NOTE: With this article, Towel & Basin continues its celebration of Women’s History Month by serving and supporting, encouraging and empowering women who are making history today.

If you currently work at home or thinking of becoming a work-at-home mom (WAHM), you might want the support and camaraderie of other moms who work at home.

There are many websites targeted to WAHMs that offer just this.

Once you begin working at home, visiting these sites isn’t just a way to drum up more business (or get ideas for your next business venture) but also to connect with other moms in a “water cooler” type fashion.

If you previously worked in an office or somewhere other than home, you may have liked the social element of working outside of the home. You can replicate this to some degree by participating on message boards and forums targeted at WAHMs.

WAHM.com
Founded in 1994 by a software engineer who was also a work-at-home mother, WAHM.com was named one of the ten best websites for parents in 2008. The site offers an array of resources for the WAHM.

There is a forum section that deals specifically with you want to do at home, or what you already do. This is a good way to seek advice, see how others are doing, and get ideas for your business.

An emphasis at WAHM is helping moms find a good WAHM environment for them, and it offers a section that has updated WAHM job opportunities.

Workplacelikehome.com
This site operates in much the same as WAHM.com. But unlike WAHM.com, which offers articles and other resources mom, Workplacelikehome.com is just a forum site.

There are more than 35,000 members of this site; you must be a member to access the forums.

NOTE: as of this article's publication, the site says “Please come back later”

MomsNetwork.com
Moms Network.com is one of the original sites for work-at-home moms.

Although its layout design is dated, the site includes a lot of resources. Some of the links are going to pages that no longer exist. But if with a little effort searching, you may find some helpful information.

You can visit these sites for support, ideas and good “water cooler” gossip. And a quick search online will give you even more options.
