Saludos.

馃槝 Hello, hello, my loves馃槝

Today I am back to tell you that in Cuman谩, on July 25, 26 and 27, the Center for Caribbean Studies of the Universidad de Oriente opened its doors to develop the activities related to the X Colloquium of this center entitled Fishing in eastern Venezuela: challenges and challenges, from a transdisciplinary approach. This event focused on topics such as artisanal and industrial fishing, applied sciences, norms and regulations, sustainable development and innovation, cultural heritage, museums, climate change, education and ethnography.

This thematic diversity allowed attendees to approach the topic of fisheries from a perspective that crosses different areas and demonstrates the particularities of each research area. During those days, I had the opportunity to present a paper in which, from the elaboration of interviews, I was able to approach the work of the fishermen, making use of their words, opinions and stories. Undoubtedly, it was a very pleasant experience, since the contact with them allowed me to get closer to their reality and understand some things about the fisherman, being that the perfect excuse to make my paper and present it to all attendees.

The following days, it was my turn to debut as moderator of the event. A task that is not alien to me, but that never ceases to scare me a little. That is why, the day before, I was attentive to the example of a very good friend of our center, who recommended me to observe her so that I could do it well the next day. I followed her recommendations, I gave it my own touch and everything went well (or at least I think so). They were several days with a lot of stress for us, but the comments and appreciations were very good, which relieved us a lot, since the objective of this event is to do things well leaving our Center and our Institution high.

It should be noted that the realization of this event would not have been possible without the participation of all the speakers, who, upon receiving the invitation, accepted immediately and in a few days, had their presentations ready. I would like to tell you that each one of them meant a very important contribution to our training and general knowledge.

Those days were pressing, but it was worth all the effort. Now, we just have to wait for next year to start again. Without further ado, I bid you farewell as always with a big hug.

Best regards.
