"The Calvary"
"El Calvario" is a very beautiful place, it brings back memories as a child, my aunts brought me for a walk on Sundays, at the time I come with my family this park is located on a hill called "El Calvario" in the center of Caracas, once recovered In 2010 it is now very visited by the Caracas family who bring their children for enjoyment and recreation, it is also visited by many tourists who come to our country. Highlighted by its long walkways, the greenness of its bushes, plants and its long palm trees stand out moving as if lulled by the wind, in which we can find several squares, busts of great illustrious characters that marked our history and monuments, where the Arch of the Federation that is at its entrance.
It has an attractive view from here we can see both the Torres del Silencio and the Cuartel de la Montaña, the blocks of the populous Parroquia del 23 de Enero, the Sector called Caño Amarillo where the Caracas Metro train passes, and even beyond the well-known Sucre Avenue all accompanied under a splendid blue sky that shows these images. In this place we find a Café Venezuela to talk and have a black drink, it also has a Reading Room for frequent readers who want to get away from the bustle of the city and meet nature and just hear the song of the birds and read a good book, it is also a very romantic site that attracts many couples who swear eternal love in these wonderful places.
It has the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes surrounded by gardens and walkways, but does not officiate mass, the story tells a long time ago there was an affair with the priest and a woman who was going to celebrate her marriage in the church, once the scandal the parish priest took his life by hanging himself in the bell tower since then it was kept closed and abandoned even when it was recovered no act is celebrated in it.
With the pandemic the Park was closed, now with the flexibility everything is going normally, I cannot fail to mention how to get to the Ezequiel Zamora "El Calvario" Park, we went to O'Leary square located in El Silencio, the most central place to get there a: the steps of Calvario, or take a transport that goes up arranged by the Mayor's Office of Caracas, you can also find yourself on January 23 where the Cuartel de la Montaña is located on Calle Real de la Planicie. "El Calvario"
“El Calvario” un lugar muy hermoso, me trae recuerdos de niña mis tías me traían a pasear los domingos, a hora vengo con mi familia este parque eta ubicado en una colina llamada “El Calvario” en el centro de Caracas, una vez recuperado en el año 2010 ahora es muy visitado por la familia caraqueña que traen a sus niños para el disfrute y recreación, también es visitado por muchos turista que vienen a nuestro país. Realza por sus largas caminerías, el verdor de sus arbustos, plantas y sus largas palmeras se destacan moviéndose como arrulladas por el viento, en el podemos encontrar varias plazas, bustos de grandes personajes ilustres que marcaron nuestra historia y monumentos, donde acentúa el Arco de la Federación que está en su entrada.
Tiene una atractiva vista desde aquí podemos ver tanto las Torres del Silencio como el Cuartel de la Montaña, los bloques de la populosa Parroquia del 23 de Enero, el Sector llamado Caño Amarillo por donde pasa el tren del Metro de Caracas, y aún más allá la conocida Avenida Sucre todo acompañado bajo un cielo azul esplendoroso que muestra estas imágenes. En este lugar encontramos un Café Venezuela para conversar y tomarse un negrito, además cuenta con una Sala de Lectura para los asiduos lectores que quieren apartarse del bullicio de la ciudad y encontrarse con la naturaleza y sólo oír el canto de los pájaros y leer un buen libro, además es un sitio muy romántico que atrae muchas parejas que se juran amor eterno en estos parajes tan maravillosos.
Cuenta con la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes rodeada de jardines y caminerías, pero no oficia misa, cuenta la historia hace mucho tiempo se produjo un amorío con el cura y una mujer que iba a celebrar su matrimonio en la iglesia, una vez descubierto el escándalo el párroco se quito la vida ahorcándose en el campanario desde entonces se mantenía cerrada y abandonada aún cuando fue recuperada no se celebra ningún acto en ella.
Con la pandemia el Parque fue cerrado, ahora con la flexibilización todo va marchando normalmente, no puedo dejar de mencionarles cómo llegar al Parque Ezequiel Zamora “El Calvario”, nos dirigimos a la plaza O'Leary ubicada en el Silencio lugar más céntrico para llegar a: las escalinatas del Calvario, o agarrar un transporte que te sube dispuesto por la Alcaldía de Caracas, también puedes ubicarte en el 23 de Enero donde está el Cuartel de la Montaña en la calle Real de la Planicie. Otra opción yo los llevo, espero les guste mi relato.
