RULES FOR ALL MATCHES

These rules apply to all matches in the season or the final cup

GLS Discord

Players will communicate via DM and on GLS Discord.

Challonge

Accounts

  • Players are limited to 1 account for the whole tournament in Weekly GLG Round Robin Matches and in the GLG Championship Cup. In your 1 account, you can play either team on that account in your assigned match play. To clarify, you can still only have 1 slot in the tournament, but you can play any team on the one account when you have an assigned match slot. Be sure your teams meet all Division rules, and match expectations.
  • Accounts must submit screen shots of all account teams (main players, subs and reserves) that will be used in round robin play and in the final championship cup. If you replace players during the course of the tournament, please re-post your team.
Matching Up and Missed Matches
  • Players are responsible for connecting with and coordinating matches. It is recommended that all players use GLS Discord to connect with other players.
  • If a player has not responded to you in 24-48 hours, please DM the tournament administrator. We will make every effort to reach a player. If both the player and the administrator have tried to contact another player on Discord and they have not responded by the end designated time for play, the match will be considered a loss awarding the win to the active player.
  • Players who drop out of matchplay should contact the tournament administrator and subsequent matches will be a loss for the team that dropped out.
  • Matches must be played and scores reported within the designated timeframe. Scores not reported in this time frame will be considered a forfeit and neither team will receive any points for the match.
It’s Always 2 Matches
  • Teams will play 2 GLS matches, and the team with the most goals over 2 matches will be the winner. Think of each match as a half in soccer, so you play 2 halves to get a full result. All weekly and Championship Cup matches will follow this format. All scores reported on Challonge will be the result of the 2 matches.
  • For example: DrZoom plays Khan. In the first match, the score is DrZoom 1 - Khan 3. In the second match the score is DrZoom 1 - Khan 0. The final score reported on Challonge is DrZoom 2 - Khan 3. Khan is the winner by 1 goal. Even though DrZoom won the second match, the combined goals favor Khan and so he is declared the winner.
  • If there is a tie, see the rules below governing tie breakers and draws.
Tie Breakers
  • In Weekly Match Play if there is a tie, teams will play a third match, and report scores. In there is still a tie, then a draw will be reported. All scores for the total matches will be reported on Challonge.
  • In Weekly Rewards and Season Champions rankings, if there is a tie, the winner will be the person who won the most head-to-head match with the tied player. If there is still a tie, the winner will be the player with the most wins across all weeks of the tournament so far. If there is still a tie it will go to the team with the most goals. If there is still a tie, the teams will share the prize.

Screenshot 2024-06-11 at 11.33.28 PM.png

  • In the Championship Cup if there is a tie, teams will continue to play until someone has more goals at the end of matchplay. All scores for the total of the matches will be reported on Challonge.
Verification of Scores

Please take a screenshot of all matches and post them to GLS Discord. Both parties should verify the results. Then one player should report the combined 2 match scores on Challonge to determine the winner.

Rule Violations
  • All protests, concerns, or rules violations should be reported to the tournament administrators. DrZoom or Khan via discord.
  • Potential Rules Violations Include but are not limited to
  • You must use players at or under the Star and XP Level of your Division in round robin play. Anyone who uses a player (not Coach) that exceeds the Division will be DQed for that match, and the opponent will be given a win, unless both parties agree to replay the match.
  • 3 of more intentional violations across the 8 week season may result in a DQ & removal for the tournament. Previous matches will remain unchanged. All future matches already scheduled will be a loss for the removed player and scores will be reported 0-2.
  • Once final scores and/or rankings for a week, season or cup have been posted players will have a 24 hour protest period where they can contest the results. After that time, results will be considered final and no further changes can be made.
  • In the event of unforeseen issues, the tournament administrators will consult with the GLS team and make a final determination of how to handle the situation.
Fair Play
  • Respect for opponents, moderators, and spectators is mandatory. Any form of discrimination or unsporting behavior will result in disciplinary action by the GLS team.
  • In the case that the game glitches, maintenance mode, computer freezes, incorrect invites, playing in the wrong tier, violations of the Star/XP level, family emergencies, and/or if anything else goes wrong, just replay the match. If the players cannot come to an agreement, please DM a tournament administrator and we will help moderate and sort things out.
  • If you think something sneaking is going on, just reach out to one of the tournament administrators.
  • DrZoom and Khan may join the tournament, and should there be an issue with one of them, please DM the other administrator to help you. In the event that you feel we are not being objective, we will forfeit the match in the interest of fair play, otherwise, prepare for a great match!
  • If you feel that the Tournament Administrators are being unfair, please contact a member of the GLS team.
Questions and/or Troubleshooting

All questions, ideas, musings, protests, concerns, errors, and/or rules violations should be reported to the tournament administrators DrZoom or Khan via discord. Please give us 24-48 hours to respond.

ROUND ROBIN for 6-WEEKS

Divisions
  • Weekly match play will be in 3 Divisions, and each Division 1, 2 and 3 will earn separate rewards. Divisions based on Star Level and Card XP. All players (not coaches) must not exceed the Star Level and XP in each Division. Divisions remain the same for the entire round robin match play:

    • Division 1 Blue Dragons - Challenge is Global setting / Star Level 10 max / Any player levels are accepted.
    • Division 2 Green Krakens - Challenge is Regional setting / Star Level 6 Max / All players must be 6 Star or under.
    • Division 3 Orange Werewolves - Challenge is Local setting / Star Level 3 Max / All players must be 3 Star or under.
  • If fewer than 4 players register for any Division in any given week players will be moved to the next closest Division for that week, but still score Weekly Rewards & Season Championship points in the Division they would have normally entered. For example, in Week 1, Division 1 has 10 players, Division 2 has 5 players and Division 3 has 3 players. The 3 Players in Division 3 would be forced to move to Division 2 for that week.

    • Let us assume the final Weekly Results in Division 2 were:
      • Division 2, Player 1 (1st place) - gets 1st place D2 Rewards & Season points
      • Division 2, Player 2 (2nd place) - gets 2nd place D2 Rewards & Season points
      • Division 2, Player 3 (3rd place) - gets 3rd place D2 Rewards & Season points
      • Division 2, Player 4 (4th place) - gets 4th place D2 Rewards and Season points
      • Division 2, Player 5 (5th place) - gets 5th place D2 Rewards and Season points
      • Division 3, Player 1 (6th place) - moved to D3 for Reward and Season points
      • Division 3, Player 2 (7th place) - moved to D3 for Reward and Season points
      • Division 3, Player 3 (8th place) - moved to D3 for Reward and Season points
      • The Division 3 players would be scored in Division 3 according to finish in Division 2, earning points and rewards accordingly. So they would be ranked thus
      • Division 3, Player 1 - earning 1st place D3 Rewards and Season points
      • Division 3, Player 2 - earning 2nd place D3 Rewards and Season points
      • Division 3, Player 3 - earning 3rd place D3 Rewards and Season points
  • In the case that a player that was forcibly moved up for the week, and finishes well in the higher division, thereby earning more rewards than they would have in the lower division, they would be granted the higher value of the weekly rewards, but still score Season Championship points in the lower Division.

  • Rewards will be given each week for the top teams in each Division and for the top teams at the end of the Season.
Final Weekly Standings
  • Once all matches have been played for the week, Challonge will calculate the Weekly rankings.
  • Players will have 24 hours after the last match is logged to lodge complaints, protests, or other issues with the rankings. After that time, all rankings will be considered final. Prizes will be distributed the following week by the GLS team.
Weekly Rewards
  • At the end of each week in the season the top players in each Division will be rewarded. See above for the Weekly Prizes
  • Weekly Division placement will be determined by points earned on Challonge that week.
  • The GLS team will distribute prizes once all scores are final.
  • Players must complete at least 50% of their matches and have at least 1 win or 1 draw each week to be eligible for awards.
  • Prizes may be adjusted, limited or divided if there are too few players or too many players in a given division. GLG SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIP CUP

Details
  • This will be a single elimination tournament bracket where one winner will be crowned. The team that wins all their matches will be the champion. Rewards will be given for lower places, but you must win at least 1 match to earn rewards. Lower place ties are broken by most goals scored across the cup. If there is still a placing tie, players will share the rewards.
  • Any player can join the cup using any team with any star or XP level.
  • Players will be seeded based on how they finished the regular season. Seeding will give Division 1 players the highest seeds, with the first seed going to the Season Champion, second to second place and so on. Then the Division 2 Champion will get the next highest seed once all Division 1 players are seeded. All Division 2 players will be seeded, and then all Division 3 players. New players without any Season points will get the lowest seeds regardless of their players XP level or star level. These players will be randomly seeded at the bottom of the bracket.
  • Teams will play 2 GLS matches, and the team with the most goals over 2 matches will be the winner. Think of each match as a half in soccer, so you play 2 halves to get a full result. All scores reported on Challonge will be the result of the 2 matches.
  • In the Championship Cup if there is a tie after the 2 matches, teams will continue to play until someone has more goals at the end of matchplay. This means that if you have played 2 matches and the score is tied, you play again. And you play again until someone has more goals. Think of this like PKs in the World Cup - you keep going until someone wins. Then, all scores for the total of the matches will be reported on Challonge.
  • Matches must be played and scores reported within the designated time period. Each round will last 48 hours. Mon-Wed is Round 1, Wed-Fri is Round 2, Friday-Sunday is Round 3, Sunday-Tuesday is the Semifinal and then Tuesday-Thursday are the Finals. Rounds will start and end at 12:00am UTC / 8:00pm EST. If you cannot reach a player, please DM DrZoom or Khan. If a match is missed, the tournament administrators will decide how to handle the outcome.
