Spurs Summer Transfers Actualy Going Well

For the last two seasons now Tottenham are well on their way to getting in the players they want early in the transfer window which is a change from the old way of doing things. Levy used to like to hold out on transfers and this made clubs come down in the price of the player once the window was about to close. However this would backfire when a player Tottenham wanted would be snapped up by a rival club. Conte demanded the new players were in before their pre season tour so most of Spurs signings were done before July in 2022.
This year it is looking like the same again with the new goalkeep Vicario from Empoli, James Maddison from Leicester entering the building early doors. Now Spurs are still short a couple of Central Defenders but it is widely reported that once Maddison is out of the way then they will concentrate on this area. Having no Director of Football and the new Chief of Football operations Scott Munn starting on the 1st of July, it is believed that Daniel Levy is heavily involved in the process. It is also believed that Paradici is still in the background pulling the punches but this is only rumour. However Vicario from Empoli has his name written all over it.
Spurs first went from David Raya , the proven Brentford goalkeeper who liked to play out from the back. But Brentford slapped a price tag of £40 million pound on him even though there was 1 year left on his contract. Tottenham would have been mad to pay that. Granted Spurs are asking for £100 million for Kane with only one year left but Kane is a different proposition. Plus the Declan Rice with only 1 year left on his contact heading to Arsenal is really after increasing Kane's price also. If you pay £105 million for a player who had a so so season last year then how much is Harry worth. Yes Rice is younger but the player is hyped up because he is English. I was actually surprised how we got Maddsion for so cheap. Comparing him to the best young English footballer of all time and Maddser comes up not far off. Some could even say better.

The Raya deal is old news and Spurs walked away from the deal at the death when it was down to £1 million being haggled over. But looking at this new keeper I am glad they did. I first came across Vicario in last seasons stunning saves which soon went viral.

Then I looked at his ball playing skills and they look good. Keepers such as Buffon were glowing with praise for Vicario and called him the best keeper in Serie A which is very high praise so I am excited to see what this young keeper can do with us. The keeper also mentioned he had a chat with the Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou
and was impressed with the managers vision telling the player that they both had to fight to get to wear they were today and he loved hearing this. I loved hearing this also.

Postecoglou also told Maddison that it will be a completely different Spurs team next season. He too doesn't start until the 1st July. He was spotted at the Lordes today so @talesfrmthecrypt will be delighted that the incoming Tottenham boss has a passion for the cricket.

Meanwhile on the Kane front, Bayern put in a bid of £60 million but Levy is not selling. He can go next year on a free if he likes or we will win something this season and this will turn the tides. If I was Kane and if I could hold on until next May, get the all time goal scoring record and then have a £100 million signing on fee at another club. Now that would be a sweetener. His kids are small as well so does he really want to move at all. So do Spurs get £100 million for him this season or does he stay and do wonderful things with Maddison for a year and pocket the cash himself at the end of the season. I know which one I would take. He really wants Shearer's record as well so I would be inclined to stay put.

So who would replace him if he did go? Well we have the Brazilian number 9 waiting in the wings. He is young and Hungary and I reckon Ange will turn Richarlison into a goal machine so our replacement is already actually at the club.
Juventus are interested in Romero and to be honest we cannot look at Eric Dier as the only scapegoat. This muppet dove into more tackles and got sent off for rash challenges and contributed to our shoddy defence. He then swanned off to Argentina saying he was injured before the world cup and had a massive celebration after it. If Juventus put in a good offer I would be considering it.

So who else is on the chopping board. Winks is already heading to Leicester for 10 million. Hojbjerg could be off to Athletico Madrid which will leave space for the two youngsters to grow in Sarr and Skipp although the latter isn't good enough. Reguilion is wanted back in Spain and Los Celso has admirers all over Spain and even Aston Villa. So we will go into sale mode soon. Tanguy Ndombele is coming back and I have to say I would love him to succeed as he is a massive talent but the guy is gassed out after 60 minutes. If Mourinho, Conte , Scalletti and whoever manages Lyon cannot get anything out of him then I doubt Ange can. However it is worth noting that all these managers play the type of defensive football that doesn't suit the player. Just thinking of a midfield with options such as Bentancur , Bissouma , Ndombele and Maddison as well as Sarr coming through. Up front we have Son Kane and Kuluevski. This is mouth watering. But Tottenham conceded 60 goals last season so it is time to sort out the defence.
Ndogie is on his way and we have Porro on the other side. Two worries because neither can defend so Ange has a problem here. Then we have Dier , Davies , Tananga and Romero and Roden coming back from loan. We need to spend big here to sort this out and quick. Ange isn't known for his defending but we need a few good players in pronto. Michael Van Der Wien and Tapsoba have been linked but we will wait and see.

Once again I am always a glass half full person as I believe we now have the right guy in charge who will play the football that the fans love. Now I am told he is slow to get started but once it clicks then it clicks. Any kind of football would be better than what we were playing under Conte.

Meanwhile up the road at Woolwich ,

Arsenal have paid £105 million for Declan Rice. They have also signed the most suitable Arsenal player ever in Kia Havertz. Why oh why are they signing this guy. Declan Rice had an absolute disaster of a season last year getting too big for his boots wanting to play in a more attacking role which led West Ham straight into relegation. Luckily it was masked by West Ham winning the conference League but the boy is overrated because he had a couple of good English games. I can only see Arsenal falling off a cliff next season. The amount of money they are spending beggars belief. They should enjoy this seasons Champions League.
