It is amazing to know that a lot of people love peas and eat a lot of them. Before leaving the house this morning, all my neighbors have come to make demands for their own portion of the groundnut harvest.
They all want a portion to cook and eat itπŸ˜‚

Groundnuts can be eaten even when the seeds are not dried; this is the time we often boil them in water, adding a little salt to enjoy fresh

Soon as the groundnut seeds get dry, you can then roast them and keep ok bottles for consumption. So long as our grains are properly dried, they can be stored for years.

We were able to invite a few of our friends to assist us with the harvest, which is a good thing because even when we had sought laborers to pay them to help us with the harvest, we couldn't find anyone. It seems like the slow and time-consuming process of harvesting groundnuts is the reason laborers are shying away from this type of work, but it's good that we have gotten more hands that won't take money from us. After the harvest today we will be compensating everyone with a little portion of the harvest as a thank-you portion; it won't be fiat for people to come and spend quality time assisting us to work and having nothing to go home with.

In order to make this work easier, my dad and siblings came around yesterday to uproot all the groundnut plants on the farm and stack them in different piles. Upon reaching the farm this morning, all we have to do is pluck the seeds rather than have to do a double job of uprooting first before plucking them.

Some rodents also serviced themselves with portions of our groundnuts. They have been digging into the soil and picking some nuts to eat. This isn't a new thing, as practically everyone, including animals, is hungry. But if we allow this to last for a good time, they will end up eating the best of our harvest. That will be ending today perhaps, and these bush animals will have to seek another crop in the dark to feast on πŸ˜πŸ˜‚

Aside rodents we equally have lots of millipede and centipede that feeds on peas. Upon pulling up some of the nuts from the ground you will see these empty pods where millipedes have entered and eating the nuts inside.

While harvesting and measuring we noticed that a greater portion of the nuts were eating by insects compared to rodents. Picking most of the pods here you barely see anything inside. Nevertheless today is the day we will be harvesting all of our nuts and taking home our proceeds.

We are here, and our work is going smoothly for now. Dinner will soon be prepared on the farm here.
