Weeds Removal Manually and Constant Rain Fall Lately Has Help in Boosting My Rice Farm.

Hello Hivers, @Homesteading community Welcome to my Blog🤝Trust you are doing good? Rice here in Nigeria is quiet expensive, most especially this year. Last year, we had a bountiful harvest. We harvested so much that we shared to families and friends within and outside our neighborhood, we sold some, and kept some in our kitchen store for personal consumption.
We have extended family members living with us. As a result of that, our rice got finished in march and we had no choice than to purchase some from the market... It was extremely more expensive than we thought. Going into rice farming this year wasn't an option at all.

We bought some rice seedlings from the market sometime in June this year... That was because it rained that period. We presume the rain had come to stay. We went ahead to plant our rice seedlings in the month of June. Afterwards, it was so unfortunate that there was no consistent rain to help our plant germinate... Thank goodness, our rice farm is located in a river log area. Daddy, said it's the best area to plant rice, because rice needs water to survive. So it was really an advantage for us. That period, when ever we visit the farm, we get water from the river and irrigate our rice plant. Gradually, we began to see progress.

As time passes by, we had weeds grow alongside our plant which is inevitable. The day you made up your mind to become a farmer, always have it in mind that as you plants, so are the weeds. In most cases, weeds grow faster than the plant or crops itself. Unless we dedicate time to up root them manually or through the use of herbicide, if not so, we will not gain much to harvest. Rice has some herbicide which are effective to eliminate weeds in the farm but this time, my dad decided we do It manually since it's just a plot a farm land.

Just after clearing up the weeds in our rice farm, my immediate younger brother felt ill and was admitted and operated in the hospital. That got us unstable and took our attention from the farm. We were rather concern about our brother. He was discharge after a month, and when we visited the farm a day after, we were shocked at what our eyes saw, weeds all over the farm. We went back to manual labour by weeding off the grasses in the farm.

Fortunately, rain started heavily in mid August and it falls almost everyday... I can't just help but show you how speedily our rice farm has been... Friends , I'm extremely happy that our rice farm is growing really fast.

We are been optimistic to harvest large subsequently since the rain is consistent🌧️
