Extracting of natural resources if fine but when extracting we're to be careful not to destroy our farmland because that's the only place we eat from. Actually from the way things are going all in the name of modernization starting from the extraction of natural resources, building of houses everywhere I usually ask myself if they'll be land for us to be farming.
We have this foreigners in our land called Afikpo North (Ehugbo) they're in our land only to extract natural resources that's used for the construction of roads. The natural resources they extract comes from the stone we have in our farmland. Because our farmland has been in use from the ancient time, we have a lot of stones that's used to construct many things. Many even believe that Afikpo has gemstone, silver, and gold. All I know is that Afikpo land is blessed but I still don't know where we'll be farming if all our farm land are been taking to harvest natural resources.
The other day, I went to harvest cassava from one of my farmland. I used the opportunity to look around to see what and how the foreigners are extracting our natural resources from our farmland. It was that they have done a lot of natural resources extraction but I was never comfortable with what my eyes saw. The level at which they have extracted many natural resources has caused a lot of damages in our farmland which will even be more dangerous in the future.
The places which they have extracted many natural resources has caused many pot holes. They have digged very deed above our normal farmland. The deepness of the natural resources extraction is what I even find difficult to see car driven in and out. Looking at how the foreigners used a catapilla to dig our farmland very deep, I couldn't even see the car the use to drive in to carry the natural resources out. This is to say how deep the farmland becomes.
When I saw this I was trying to compare another community called Ibii and Akpoha all in Ebonyi state Nigeria where they also extracted the same natural resources. Thoe areas has been covered with river because of the deepness. Whenever you pass the area all you'll see is a red zone flag.
I now compare it how our farmland is going to look in the future because of the natural resources extraction. Are we going to really have access to our farm land. I aks this question because I know that the deepness will be covered by water. I have raised concern to our elders and youths asking and requesting for the foreigners to make sure they use their machine to cover the areas the deep inside so water will not cover our whole farmland.
In conclusion when extracting natural resources from our land especially where we farm, we should protect the interest of our farming by extracting carefully because our farmland is where we eat from.

La extracción de recursos naturales está bien, pero al extraerla debemos tener cuidado de no destruir nuestras tierras de cultivo porque ese es el único lugar del que comemos. En realidad, por cómo van las cosas en nombre de la modernización, empezando por la extracción de recursos naturales y la construcción de casas en todas partes, suelo preguntarme si serán tierras para que podamos cultivarlas.
Tenemos a estos extranjeros en nuestra tierra llamados Afikpo Norte (Ehugbo). Están en nuestra tierra sólo para extraer recursos naturales que se utilizan para la construcción de carreteras. Los recursos naturales que extraen provienen de la piedra que tenemos en nuestras tierras de cultivo. Debido a que nuestras tierras de cultivo han estado en uso desde la antigüedad, tenemos muchas piedras que se usan para construir muchas cosas. Muchos incluso creen que Afikpo tiene piedras preciosas, plata y oro. Todo lo que sé es que la tierra de Afikpo está bendecida, pero todavía no sé dónde cultivaremos si todas nuestras tierras agrícolas se utilizan para cosechar recursos naturales.
El otro día fui a cosechar yuca en una de mis tierras de cultivo. Aproveché la oportunidad para mirar a mi alrededor y ver qué y cómo los extranjeros están extrayendo nuestros recursos naturales de nuestras tierras de cultivo. Es que han extraído mucho recursos naturales pero nunca me sentí cómodo con lo que vieron mis ojos. El nivel al que han extraído muchos recursos naturales ha causado muchos daños en nuestras tierras de cultivo que serán aún más peligrosos en el futuro.
Los lugares de los que se han extraído muchos recursos naturales han provocado muchos baches. Han excavado muchos terrenos por encima de nuestras tierras de cultivo normales. La profundidad de la extracción de recursos naturales es lo que me resulta incluso difícil de ver entrando y saliendo un coche. Al observar cómo los extranjeros usaban una catapilla para cavar nuestras tierras de cultivo muy profundamente, ni siquiera podía ver el uso del automóvil para entrar y sacar los recursos naturales. Es decir, qué tan profunda se vuelve la tierra de cultivo.
Cuando vi esto, estaba tratando de comparar otra comunidad llamada Ibii y Akpoha, todas en el estado de Ebonyi, Nigeria, donde también extraían los mismos recursos naturales. Esas áreas han sido cubiertas por el río debido a la profundidad. Cada vez que pases por la zona lo único que verás será una bandera de zona roja.
Ahora comparo cómo se verán nuestras tierras de cultivo en el futuro debido a la extracción de recursos naturales. ¿Realmente vamos a tener acceso a nuestras tierras agrícolas? Hago esta pregunta porque sé que la profundidad estará cubierta por agua. He expresado mi preocupación a nuestros mayores y jóvenes, pidiendo y solicitando a los extranjeros que se aseguren de usar sus máquinas para cubrir las áreas profundas del interior para que el agua no cubra toda nuestra tierra de cultivo.
En conclusión, al extraer recursos naturales de nuestra tierra, especialmente donde cultivamos, debemos proteger el interés de nuestra agricultura extrayendo con cuidado porque de nuestra tierra de cultivo es de donde comemos.
