They didn't come back
Griselda spent an agitated night, not even tiredness could take away her concern. She prepared an infusion with herbs and caffeine, waiting for her husband and son to arrive. They went out in the afternoon looking for the anomaly that was the cause of the horror of their farm.
One afternoon the family glimpsed a strange glow coming from the horizon. The animals began to act strangely; aggressive or tired, swarming with a foul smell of decay.
The frightening initial symptoms they exposed were red eyes and slimy green saliva that drained from their snouts and beaks. Soon after being infected they died of gravity, only few survived when they were isolated but later they were poisoned. Griselda's husband and son couldn't take it anymore and embarked on the glow to investigate.
From then on, Griselda watched as animals twisted and died, even the trees changed shape and color. Hours passed and they did not return, and the woman had to keep control of her environment. The dawn came and she was still alone, she watched the horizon and the dawn was more intense.
They did not return and the farm was consumed, the land succumbed and Griselda in agony collapsed.

Ellos no volvieron
Griselda se pasmó una noche agitada, ni el cansancio pudo arrebatarle la preocupación. Se preparó una infusión con hierbas y cafeína, esperando la llegada de su esposo y su hijo. Salieron en la tarde buscando la anomalía que fuera la causante del horror de su granja.
La familia vislumbró una tarde anonadados un extraño resplandor cercano proveniente del horizonte. Los animales desde entonces comenzaron actuar extraño; agresivos o cansados, pululando un pestífero aroma a putrefacción.
Los aterradores síntomas iniciales que exponían, eran ojos rojos y viscosa saliva verde que escurría de sus hocicos y picos. Al rato de estar infectados morían de gravedad, solo pocos sobrevivieron al aislarlos pero posteriormente quedaron emponzoñados. El esposo y el hijo de Griselda no aguantaron más y se embarcaron hacia el resplandor para investigar.
Desde entonces Griselda veía como animales se retorcían y fenecían, incluso los árboles cambiaban de forma y color. Transcurrían las horas y ellos no volvían, y la mujer tuvo que mantener el control en su entorno. Llegó la madrugada y ella seguía sola, observó al horizonte y el albor era más intenso.
Ellos no volvieron y la granja se consumía, la tierra sucumbió y Griselda en agonía se desplomó.
Author's note
In this short story I talk about a fictional story about what could happen in open places outside the cities. I have been inspired mostly by science fiction and horror stories, where there are farms that are stalked by beings from space or created by man, settling in certain places to consume what is around or simply to spread through viruses or infections or things like that.

En este breve relato hablo sobre una historia ficticia sobre lo que podría pasar en lugares abiertos fuera de las ciudades. Me he inspirado más que todo en historias de ciencia ficción y terror, donde existen granjas que son acechadas por seres del espacio o creadas por el hombre, estableciéndose en lugares determinados para consumir lo que hay en el entorno o simplemente para expandirse a través de virus o infecciones o cosas por el estilo.
