My favorite Holiday of all is Christmas, because of this beautiful festivity I keep my best memories of my childhood. That indescribable feeling when waiting for the Christmas Eve gift that Santa Claus or Baby Jesus would bring me. Yes, because here in Venezuela also baby Jesus can bring us the gifts. I remember that when I was a child the most requested gift was the Barbie dolls and I loved them.
Mi temporada de celebración favorita de todas es la Navidad, pues de esta hermosa festividad guardo mis mejores recuerdos de la infancia. Esa sensación indescriptible al esperar el regalo de Nochebuena que me traería Santa Claus o el Niño Jesús. Sí porque aquí en Venezuela también el niño Jesús puede traernos los regalos. Recuerdo que para mi época el regalo más pedido eran las muñecas Barbie y yo las amaba.
Just remembering to tear the wrapping paper to discover the doll inside the box was an incomparable sensation. After a year of being so good, most of the times, waiting for my long-awaited gift was very exciting.
Solo recordar romper el papel de regalo para descubrir la muñeca que estaba dentro de la caja era una sensación incomparable. Luego de un año habiéndome portado tan bien - bueno algunas veces no tan bien- esperar mi regalo tan anhelado era muy emocionante.
It was also very exciting exchaging gifts with my family, which we haven't done for many years, but I remember that it was very fun to see the Christmas tree full of gifts and the night of the gift exchange, lots of laughter, surprises and fun.

When I started to be interested in desserts I started to prepare different desserts for Christmas like a Croquembouche or something simpler but just as delicious like a vanilla and chocolate cake which I decorated with fondant. I loved making that Santa Claus you see in the picture!

Over the years I have learned to make some of the typical Venezuelan Christmas dishes such as ham bread and hallacas, for me, all the holidays are related to the flavors and aromas, the best memories are linked to the food and if you close your eyes you can smell a delicious dessert or a homemade stew that marks a celebration or a rich sharing.
Con el transcurrir de los años he aprendido a hacer algunos de los platos típicos navideños venezolanos como pan de jamón y hallacas, para mi todas las festividades están relacionadas a los sabores y aromas, los mejores recuerdos están ligados a la comida y si cierras los ojos puedes oler un rico postre o un estofado hecho en casa que marco una celebración o un rico compartir.
Every year I am grateful to have food on my table at Christmas, to be able to share the flavors with my loved ones that will bring me memories to treasure, I love Christmas for its flavors and for the message of peace and hope it conveys.
