Querida Amistad,

Esta carta es para agradecerte por todo lo que has hecho por mí. Has estado conmigo desde que era un niño y me has dado los mejores amigos que una persona podría pedir.

Recuerdo a Rafael, mi primer amigo en mi memoria, hijo de Rafael Lee y la bonita señora Nora. La forma como hablaba el señor Lee, me llamaba mucho la atención porque su tono de voz era ronca y sus ojos eran achinados; debe ser porque era chino. No recuerdo haber visto a ese señor sin un cigarrillo en la mano; él era muy amigo de mi papá.

No sé si el mismo trabajo lo hiciste con los demás, pero sí siento que te esforzaste para que yo tuviera buenos amigos.

Recuerdo con cariño los viajes que hemos hecho juntos. Hemos recorrido caminos maravillosos, hemos visto las hermosas capitales europeas y asiáticas, nos hemos divertido mucho tratando de hablar en idiomas que no tenía ni idea.

Nos hemos reído juntos hasta que nos hemos desarmado, hemos cantado a tope nuestras canciones favoritas, hemos explorado playas desiertas en el caribe y parques naturales con monumentos hermosos e inmensos.

Hemos realizado aventuras increíbles como la vez que nos quedamos sin remos en el medio del mar en la bahía de Cata, Venezuela y totalmente borrachos.

Hemos discutido sobre filosofía, el amor y el universo hasta altas horas de la madrugada y nos hemos ayudado en los momentos difíciles como cuando me quede sin zapatos allá en Madagascar, específicamente en el bosque que no se puede caminar descalzo, en las formaciones de Tsingy.

Aunque estoy agradecido por todos estos increíbles recuerdos, también quiero expresar mi decepción.

Me has dado todo lo que necesitaba, excepto la más bella de las mortales, Kate Winslet. Aunque sé que era una petición imposible, siento que me quitaste la posibilidad de ser feliz con alguien especial como ella. Esta es una decepción que llevaré en mi corazón durante el resto de mi vida.

Pero a pesar de esto, no puedo negar lo mucho que me has dado. Siempre estaré agradecido por los momentos increíbles que hemos compartido durante los años. Eres el mejor regalo que me ha podido dar la vida y me has enseñado la importancia de ti misma.

Sin ti, mi vida no sería la misma. Sin ti, no habría conocido a gente maravillosa ni habría disfrutado de los mejores momentos de mi vida.

Por lo tanto, quiero decirte que siempre te estaré agradecido por todo lo que me has dado.

En esta publicación (carta) he querido honrar a mis amistades a propósito de 07 de febrero “Día de Mandar una Carta a un Amigo”. Esos amigos que me han acompañado a lo largo de la vida, esos que pasaron y se fueron, esos que llegaron para nunca irse.

Dear Friendship,

This letter is to thank you for everything you have done for me. You have been with me since I was a child and have given me the best friends a person could ask for.

I remember Rafael, my first friend in my memory, the son of Rafael Lee and the beautiful Mrs. Nora. The way Mr. Lee spoke caught my attention because his tone of voice was hoarse and his eyes were slanted; it must be because he was Chinese. I don't remember seeing that man without a cigarette in his hand; he was a close friend of my father.

I don't know if you did the same work as the others, but I do feel that you made an effort so that I would have good friends.

I fondly remember the trips we have taken together. We have traveled fantastic roads, we have seen the beautiful European and Asian capitals, and we have had a lot of fun trying to speak in languages I had no idea.

We've laughed together until we've fallen apart, we've sung along to our favorite songs, and we've explored deserted beaches in the Caribbean and natural parks with beautiful and immense monuments.

We have had incredible adventures like the time we ran out of oars in the middle of the sea in the bay of Cata, Venezuela and we were totally drunk.

We have discussed philosophy, love, and the universe until the wee hours of the morning and have helped each other in difficult moments like when I ran out of shoes back in Madagascar, specifically in the forest where you can't walk barefoot, in the Tsingy formations.

While I am grateful for all these amazing memories, I also want to express my disappointment.

You have given me everything I needed, except the most beautiful of mortals, Kate Winslet. Although I know it was an impossible request, I feel you took away my chance to be happy with someone special like her. This is a disappointment I will carry in my heart for the rest of my life.

But despite this, I can't deny how much you have given me. I will always be grateful for the amazing moments we have shared over the years. You are the best gift life could have given me and you have taught me the importance of yourself.

Without you, my life would not be the same. Without you, I would not have met wonderful people or enjoyed the best moments of my life.

Therefore, I want to tell you that I will always be grateful for everything you have given me.
