LA DOÑA
With this story I will share with you I participate in Hispaliterario Contest #20, it’ s about the mother. Well, it’s not a story about love, flowers or a big party to celebrate a mother. It’s about a daughter looking for her mother and what happen when she find her. I wrote this story specially for Hispaliterario contest.
LA DOÑA
Before she died Chepa got her wish to know her mother. And she heard when she said: -”Who is she? I don’t have any daughter. Kill her right now”. In the silent desert sound rifle shot that sent her to sleep forever. An hour before, Chepa was driving in the desert of Sonora listening a corrido dedicated to La Doña, her mother, the mistress of that territory abandoned by Providence, when several men armed with rifles stoped her, they came in a jeep at full speed, towards her raising the dust. they pushed her out and took her away.
Cinco años atrás…
Five years ago…
Five years ago, When Chepa was 18 years old, her parents tell her the thuth, they confess her that they wasn’t biological parents, her biological mother has abandoned her wrapped in a blanket at the door of the orphanage located on the outskirts of town. So, they raised her like she was her own daughter, they only daughter. All her life she was stubborn. When she asked them who is my mother? Who were my parents?, she didn’t believe when they said they didn’t know, that maybe it was better to her not to know.
Chepa became a cop, she learnt how to find information in many different ways, she learnt how you can lose fear of the unexpected, she was preparing the way to know the truth, to find that woman who abandoned her, that’s truth, but she had leaved her safe, with the nuns, she hadn’t leaved her to street dogs or in a garbache collector, so she died soon.
First of all, she got her name, where she came from, how she went inside the desert and survived, giving her body first, afterwards, she has learned about ilegal and lucrative business of the place, until she become a powerful and terrible woman, called “La Doña”, like mexican actress María Félix.
That day, her last one, Chepa knew great risk she was taking, her friend Juan, who loved her, they spent together some warm nights, he said her: -”are you sure, Chepa? Don’t go. Persons who go to those lands with no autorization of La Doña, never return. What do you win taking with her after so many years. People say that this woman lost her soul many years ago”. -”I want to see her, I want to know my mother”. So, Chepa riched her wish, she found her destiny, nobody saw her anymore.
