In the Summer of 2020 ("The Summer of Love", so called) a protest was taking part that blocked a major highway, the I-225 in the Denver, Colorado metropolitan area. A family caught up in that protest was trying to drive away. Mr Young shot at that vehicle claiming he thought the driver was trying to run down protesters though the video of it - which you should watch yourself, available in the links below - does not show that, in my humble opinion. The shots Mr Young fired missed the occupants of the vehicle but injured several protesters.

So now Mr Young has had his day in court. His penalty? 90 days in jail of which he has already served 50 and 5 years of probation. For comparison, you can get more by punching somebody in the face in a bar fight.

This is our justice system now. I am sure there are January 6th protesters who just wish they had the same standards applied to them, after serving over a year in jail on charges most of which amount to little but trespassing.

This is the US today. And no, it is not a society ruled by law, not by a long shot.
