Hive keeps getting better and more user-friendly each day with various developments by strong developers who are working behind the scenes to give the best of the platform. Hive is decentralised which makes it different from every other centralised platform out there. I have studied the nature of Upwork and other freelancing sites which are based on centralisation and this method does not give clients and freelancers the free will to operate on the sites and their transaction fees are too high compared to a decentralised platform. The reason I included "might" in the topic is that I have a development idea in mind and do not know yet if it's possible or not which I will just talk about here.

What development or project do I have in mind to orchestrate on Hive to make it a better place for every user including me?

Let's take the Upwork platform as an example here. This platform is one of the largest online freelancing platforms in the world. It enables freelancers to offer services such as writing, graphic design, programming etc. The platform helps clients to list their jobs and freelancers offer their services directly. Both the clients and freelancers benefit from the platform whereby clients are given the chance to hire freelancers for their businesses for either short term or long term period and allows freelancers to showcase their skills and find clients. The platform also verify the freelancers identities and track their work progress.

While this being said, we can see that Hive does similar things here, but the difference is that it is a decentralised platform and is resistant to censorship compared to Upwork. Hive allows its users to write, make designs, and share their programming process through writing/video tutorials and are paid for their services. Hive allows users to have their identities stored on chain. Its transparency and trust on the chain are second to none here as users have the freedom on their accounts without any single authority taking control over their accounts. Work progress is also tracked through Hivebuzz.

This is why I would be introducing a project where freelancers would have a marketplace and it is solely Hive-based. This means that every transaction done within the market would be in Hive tokens. Clients and freelancers would be able to pay and receive Hive tokens for their services making it a seamless transaction.

The marketplace would be built on the Hive blockchain making it decentralised in ensuring transparency, trust and fairness which will benefit both the clients and freelancers. Smart contracts would be made available to facilitate transactions and enforce agreements. Just like on Upwork, users would be able to offer services like writing, designing graphics, marketing, programming etc and they will have a profile that includes their portfolios, showcasing their skills and pricing. Unlike upwork which accepts fees in USD/EUR, the marketplace would only accept Hive as the only cryptocurrency. It will completely remove the need for a third-party payment and reduce transaction fees.

The Hive marketplace would be built in such a way that clients and freelancers would be able to rate and review each other after a project is completed. Features like chat rooms and forums would be implemented so that users can communicate effectively with each other ensuring a collaborative approach between themselves. This will foster a sense of community and encourage network and sharing of knowledge. Most importantly, Hive Dapps would be implemented in the marketplace to give room for users to navigate through.

While Upwork charges a high fee on the site when converting currency and withdrawals and also removes a large percentage of the total project value from clients and freelancers, Hive marketplace would be done in a way that there wouldn't be a need for traditional banking while transaction costs are reduced to the minimal level. On the Hive marketplace, transactions are generally minimal.

Lastly, while on Upwork, the owner of the platform dictates rules, policies and governance structure, on Hive marketplace, decisions would be based on decentralised mechanisms such as upvoting by users as this gives them control over the direction and navigation of the marketplace. Identify verification would also be carried out in the marketplace but it would be on decentralised measures which would be relied on and the reputation system would be built on the blockchain.

In conclusion, the Hive marketplace would be based on decentralisation giving the users more opportunity to control their accounts, manage their portfolios, and create smooth communication among each other while fostering a sense of community on the chain and making it more user-friendly. With this, I believe Hive would be a more better and rewarding place where freelancers are paid for their services while contributing to the development of the blockchain.

Thanks for your time reading. Looking forward to your interaction.
