Support Nigeria. Support The Super Falcons

Greetings!

I'm a big fan of sports, especially football, but I always stay low-key during club matches like the EPL, Serie A, La Liga, and others. However, I become very vocal when it comes to tournaments involving nations competing to win medals. One of the tournaments that always gets me excited is the Olympics. I love this tournament so much because it doesn't just include football; it features all kinds of sports, even ones you might not have thought of. I remember the previous tournament in Tokyo 2020, where we saw different amazing sports that kept us glued to the screen, enjoying every moment.

Oh yeah, I enjoyed the previous tournament to the fullest because I had the opportunity to watch TV almost 24/7 with steady electricity. To crown it all, I was in the midst of coworkers who were all ladies. For the very first time, these ladies were snubbing their all-time favorite movie channels to watch sports channels, which settled our usual arguments over which channels to watch.

Paris 2024 Olympic Football with the Super Falcons

The most interesting fact for me in this upcoming Olympics is that the women's national football team of my nation, Nigeria, called the Super Falcons, qualified for it after 16 years of missing out on the Olympic tournament. It's shocking because this team dominates African women's football but finds it hard to qualify for the Olympics. They broke the jinx this year and qualified alongside the Copper Queens of Zambia as the only teams representing Africa in the tournament. It's unfortunate that the men's team didn't qualify, but it's fine because our ladies make us proud compared to the guys.

The Group of Death

We are in Group C alongside Spain, Japan, and Brazil.

Sigh!

That's a group of death, and you can't say otherwise.

Three days ago, I was talking with a friend, and he mentioned that Nigeria could never escape this group. I smiled and didn't bother to ask him why he said so. It's very clear: Spain, Japan, and Brazil are very formidable teams.

But come to think of it, I don't know how much you followed the previous FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in 2023. We were placed in the group of death with Canada, which had their most decorated player, Christine Sinclair, and Australia, the host, with one of the deadliest strikers, Sam Kerr, from Chelsea, as well as Ireland with McCabe. There seemed to be no way for us; we were already written off. But guess what? We qualified as second in the group while the most rated team, the current Olympic winner, Canada, was knocked out.

You can't write us off. We can surprise the world again and beat these teams. No doubt, these three nations in our group are deadly. Brazil, with their top scorer Marta, is something to be scared of. Japan is a household name when it comes to women's football; you won't believe that they beat Ghana 4-0 recently in their test game. And Spain? Come on, they're currently the world champions.

But we can't be dismayed. We are the African giants when it comes to football, and that's what we are taking along to Paris. In case you don't know, the Nigerian women's national team has won the African Cup of Nations 9 times.

So yes, I'm informing you about the tournament kicking off tomorrow (Wednesday 24th July). Our first match is coming up on Thursday 25th July against Brazil.

Just come and support us🙌

Cheer us up!

Thank you!
