I PREFER THE RAINY SEASON TO THE DRY SEASON

Hello hivers, the #hivenaijaweekly prompt for this week goes thus,

2️⃣If you could choose a season that you would want to remain forever, between the rainy and dry season, which would it be and why?

Since Sunday afternoon everywhere has been so hot, it was a very sunny day that people were even fanning themselves in the church. This was the situation up until last night when there was a heavy downpour of rain. This saved the day as the weather is so cool now and there is tendency that is how it will be for the rest of the day. Hence, I prefer the rainy season to the dry season as there are many reasons involved and I would spell them out.

No doubt the dry season is coming soon and one thing I can't deal with is the dust that brings about the cough or catarrh that makes you sick and the harmattan period.

WHY I DON'T LIKE THE DRY SEASON
Dry season always bring about a negative vibe to many aspects which includes drought, farmlands lacking water to grow plants, fire, wells drying up leaving no water for cooking and drinking or even bathing, rivers or streams drying up, hot weather, too much dust which could lead to health issues like cough and catarhh, dryness of the skin and so many more. Although there are positive sides to dry season but I prefer the wet season.

REASONS WHY I PREFER THE RAINY SEASON

  • COOL WEATHER: the cool weather that comes with the rainy season is enough reason to just love it. Most people look forward to having the dry/harmattan season over so there could be a balance. There are time during the dry season we question humanity and ask "what did we do wrong" because the heat looks like it want to sap every liquid fluid in your system. When You would go out and come back, touching your head will be like you just cooked a meal. But with rainy season, the rain ushers in a cool atmosphere that is conducive and convenient.

  • WATER: water is essential to humanity, humans need water to survive so also does plants and animals need water. Without water, plants and vegetation will die, hence there will be famine in the land. With water, the lakes, rivers and streams are replenished giving more than enough for daily activities like cooking, drinking, washing and so on. To grow food crops, water is necessary to wet the soil and enhance growth. In general, it is necessary for agricultural purposes.

  • ALLOWS THE CHILDREN PLAY: Have you noticed that kids love to play alot in the rain, it seems addictive because anytime it's raining they all rush out to play and have their bath except if their parents do not allow it.

  • PREVENTS FAMINE: Rain helps prevent famine from communities, it irrigates the soil and make food crops readily available for planting and harvesting.

  • BEAUTIFIES NATURE: Natural rain brings about a beautiful and natural habitat. With constant rain we have beautiful waterfalls that serve as tourist centers. Nature comes out alive in flowers, trees and so on.

But what if there was no rain? How would we survive? How do people in the desert cope?. Rain has gone a long way to help humanity. Thus, I would prefer the rainy season to remain forever.
