I sat down there confused of what has just happened as my mother turned off the television, "mom what's happening, why did you off the TV" I asked with the only thought of wanting to watch the movie till the end not knowing what i was allowing my mind to take. Most times we allow children watch movies which they are not supposed to, making the movie influence their every action and most times even the way they think and act. I had one of the best childhood memories one can ever imagine but never the best movie memories with my parents.
"Your not supposed to watch it" my mom replied me
With much confusion and with the fear of the beating she would do to me if I tried to turn it on back, i stayed where i was waiting for her to turn it back on. By the time she turn it back on it was almost the end and I was very angry because I missed the interesting part and it was a television show which they only showed twice in a week and I never missed any episode.
"I want to watch the movie also" i cried aloud wanting to follow my elder brother to watch the movie.
"You can't watch it it's not for your age" he replied me with such seriousness.
"How I don't understand" i replied with persistent in me.
"When you grow older you will understand" he replied me again.
Even with all the resistance he gave me, I still insisted to watch and he finally allowed me to watch it with him.
While we were watching this movie there was a point in the movie were two people Male and female was about doing something I never understood quite well during my childhood, when they started with the kissing my brother with no hesitation quickly fast forward it to the part when it was all over. Without him noticing I looked at him in a suspicious and awkward manner and continued watching the movie.
I never understood what they were trying to do , or why they did what they they, but what I knew during that time was that they didn't want me to know what was happening during those times they restrain me from watching those scene. As I grew up from a child to a teenager I then understood, I understood the reason behind all those protection and guidance on movies rated PG 13. Movies these days are unpredictable and full of immoral act, what we see is what we tend to display in our actions, what we hear is what we tend to say in our words. These are the principles which governor's what we hear and watch in our daily life's. Allowing children watching all these scenes where they have sex and kiss has a way of affecting them in their actions and in thoughts.
Children has a way of displaying what they see in television, when they see those things which they do in movies they may want to practice it and sometimes most things which are being displayed in the screen is not always good or advisable to follow. There was a time I watched that particular scene they were hiding from me, when they were about doing it I just stood there watching it from the beginning To the end, nobody was at home but by the time my mom arrived home I asked her the question which was in my mind since I saw the scene.
"Mom what's the meaning of fuck" I asked out of curiosity.
"Who told you that word and where did you hear it from"my mother yelled with surprise.
"I heard it from the TV show I just watched and there was also something they did that they also mentioned that word, so mom what's the meaning" I asked looking at her.
My mom looked at me and as a child I was she never wanted to pollute my mind with such meaning and so she simply told me it was nothing and next time I saw such scenes that I should remove it or simply skip to the next part.
The next time I saw such thing again I did as she told me and skipped, i was glad my mom was there to be able to explain to me and guide me to the right path towards such polluted movies. You can never predict what movies can do to you, some may affect you in a bad way while some can affect you in a positive way it all depends on the guidance one get when watching such movies.
