El pasado lunes 3 de octubre se celebró el Día del Odontólogo y hoy quiero mostrarles y contarles un poco de lo que fue ese día tan especial. Perdonen lo tarde, pero después de la celebración tuve que viajar y apenas llegué ayer y hoy es que pude escribir y contarles todo en este post 🤭
Hello friends of hive, greetings to everyone, especially to the entire community of @aliento. Last Monday October 3rd was celebrated the Dentist's Day and today I want to show and tell you a little of what was that special day. Sorry for being late, but after the celebration I had to travel and I just arrived yesterday and today is that I could write and tell you everything in this post 🤭.
En el centro de salud dónde trabajo, somos 2 odontólogos nada más, junto con la asistente dental. Nosotros tres estábamos planificando hacer un pequeño compartir en nuestro lugar de trabajo y tomarnos el día libre para celebrarlo. Al comentarle esto a nuestra jefa, ella nos dijo para hacer una misa de acción de gracias por nuestro día y hacer una convocatoria a todos los odontólogos de mi ciudad. Nosotros aceptamos encantados, luego de la misa realizaríamos un compartir en el trabajo.
At the health center where I work, there are only 2 of us dentists, along with the dental assistant. The three of us were planning to do a little sharing at our place of work and take the day off to celebrate. When we told this to our boss, she told us to make a mass of thanksgiving for our day and to make a call to all the dentists in my city. We gladly accepted, after the mass we would have a sharing at work.
A pesar de la gran convocatoria que se hizo para la misa, solo fuimos 6 odontólogos, además de nuestros familiares. Éramos muy pocos, pero estábamos los necesarios. Cada uno se encargó de las ofrendas que teníamos que realizar en la misa, entre ellas el pan, la luz, la cesta de alimentos, cesta de frutas y en mi caso una caja con artículos de limpieza. Además de esto me tocó realizar una lectura. Era la primera vez en mi vida que realizaba una lectura en una misa, a pesar de ser católico e ir a misa constantemente. Fue una bonita experiencia y una bendición. Aparte me ayudó a conocer a mis colegas. Fue una bonita forma de empezar nuestro día.
In spite of the large number of people who attended the mass, we were only 6 dentists, in addition to our family members. We were very few, but there were enough of us. Each one of us was in charge of the offerings that we had to make at the mass, including bread, light, food basket, fruit basket and in my case a box with cleaning supplies. In addition to this I had to do a reading. It was the first time in my life that I did a reading at a mass, even though I am a Catholic and go to mass all the time. It was a nice experience and a blessing. It also helped me to get to know my colleagues. It was a nice way to start our day.
Luego de la misa, nos fuimos a nuestro sitio de trabajo para realizar un pequeño compartir. Para nuestra sorpresa, nuestros compañeros de trabajo nos tenían un agasajo preparado. Así que nos unimos todos y compartimos una mañana increíble. Habían muchos pasapalos, bebidas y una super torta con la que le cantaríamos cumpleaños a todos los cumpleañeros del mes, entre ellos, mi asistente dental, a la cual había sorprendido con una mini torta en su cumpleaños y que les conté en un post hace unas semanas.
After mass, we went to our place of work for a little sharing. To our surprise, our co-workers had a treat prepared for us. So we all joined in and shared an amazing morning. There were lots of snacks, drinks and a super cake with which we would sing birthdays to all the birthday boys and girls of the month, among them, my dental assistant, whom I had surprised with a mini cake on her birthday and that I told you about in a post a few weeks ago.
Fue una mañana muy bonita, donde todos compartimos, hablamos y reímos. Nos despejamos un poco de nuestro trabajo, aunque es inevitable no hablar de eso y más teniendo a otros colegas compartiendo sus experiencias. Este era mi primer día del odontólogo después de recibir mi título, así que lo disfrute muchísimo. Cuando era estudiante y llegaba el día del odontólogo lo que hacíamos era irnos de rumba e ir a discotecas. Pero esa etapa ya pasó, y ahora nuestros encuentros con mis colegas son más profesionales😁😄
It was a very nice morning, where we all shared, talked and laughed. We took our minds off our work, although it is inevitable not to talk about it, especially having other colleagues sharing their experiences. This was my first day as a dentist after receiving my degree, so I enjoyed it very much. When I was a student and the dentist's day came, what we used to do was to go clubbing and partying. But that stage is over, and now our meetings with my colleagues are more professional😁😄.
Nunca he dudado de que escogí la carrera que quería. Que bonito es cuando hacemos las cosas por vocación de servicio y no por obligación. Seguiré esforzándome para cada día ser un mejor profesional y poder ayudar a muchas más personas. Mi trabajo conlleva un gran cansancio emocional y físico, pero todo eso vale la pena cuando puedes devolverle a una persona lo más preciado que se tiene, una sonrisa.

I have never doubted that I chose the career I wanted. How nice it is when we do things out of a vocation of service and not out of obligation. I will continue to strive every day to be a better professional and to be able to help many more people. My work involves a lot of emotional and physical fatigue, but it is all worth it when you can give back to a person the most precious thing you have, a smile.
