This post is mainly for people who are not Venezuelan and don't know very well what is happening in the country at the moment, I will try to explain in the most concise way I can the current events.
To put a little bit in context, Venezuela is subjected under the dictatorship of Nicolás Maduro, successor of Hugo Chavéz; we have been 25 years subjected under the regime of these people, enduring shortages, inflation, insecurity, poverty, death, diseases and the exile of millions of Venezuelans throughout the years, especially after the massacre suffered by the people in 2017.
This year, 2024, is for presidential elections and the Opposition candidate was María Corina Machado, a name not at all unknown in the country due to the fact that since the Chávez years she had already spoken out; due to the support she has had in the country, the regime disqualified her so that she could not register as a candidate for the presidency. For this reason and at the last moment, Edmundo Gonzalez was registered as candidate on behalf of the Unidad party.
The presidential elections were usually held between the months of November and December but for some unknown reason they were moved forward to July 28th of this year; that day the whole nation came out to exercise their right to vote, even I who had never had faith in the elections because there has always been fraud but this time I decided to do my bit.
That Sunday was a day full of hope, motivation, people had a lot of faith due to the great mobilization of people; at night the atmosphere became tense because irregularities and some repression began, Venezuelans stayed until the last moment in the voting centers to avoid fraud or cheating but unfortunately it was done anyway. The results were given after midnight, since 6 o'clock in the evening Venezuelans were on the edge of their seats due to the uncertainty although deep down we already knew it was going to happen because it has been going on for two decades.
The results were announced giving Nicolás Maduro as the winner with an abysmal number when it was made public through X.com that Edmundo González was the winner in all the tables of the country; the feeling of defeat, sadness and frustration invaded the nation, personally I burst into tears because that idea which I have refused to consider of leaving the country began to resonate in my head again and with that sadness stuck in my chest I went to sleep. In the early morning I heard Maria Corina's voice in the street and immediately I got up to turn on the transmission, her words illuminated the panorama a little and gave me a gram of faith to go on, she knew that this would happen and she prepared to act.
On Monday 29th the country raised its voice of discontent with what is known here as "Cacerolazo", this is a way of demonstrating that consists of hitting a metal pot with an object to make noise; this form of protest has been used a lot in the country to express the discontent of the population, I had never participated in one due to the sensitivity I have to loud sounds but I needed to vent and drain the anger and frustration I felt inside so without thinking I did it. Many people took to the streets to demonstrate peacefully but it didn't take long for the police forces to come out and repress the people using firearms against the Venezuelan population no matter if they were women, children, elderly or even if they were not involved in the demonstration.
Since that day the streets had been in constant conflict, reaching the level of a civil war because the thugs (or Malandros as they are called here in the country) took to the streets with firearms to counteract the repression; unfortunately there have been multiple injuries and deaths from these clashes but this has shown that the population is no longer afraid, that we are tired of the yoke we are under and we want an immediate change. The situation has calmed down a little due to the statements made by María Corina and our newly elected president Edmundo Gonzales calling for peace and patience to show the international community the minutes that demonstrate the electoral fraud that Maduro and his entourage have committed.
There is still a great uncertainty of what is going to happen, you can feel the fear among the people of the regime, you can see it in their faces, you can feel it in their words and in the way they speak; they have remained most of the time hidden to only let themselves be seen through live transmissions sheltered who knows where. In the streets there is a tense calm, several people have been forced to go out to work with the fear of being kidnapped or even killed by a stroke of bad luck; public institutions are trying to resume an absurd normality as, for example, my university giving dates for the start of classes again.
I'm not a religious person but it is known that this regime has used black magic to reinforce its power, that is why they have been so affected by the destruction of the different statues of Chavez that are scattered throughout all the states of the country, even if they don't believe in esotericism and witchcraft, it is something real and it is known so the best way to protect ourselves and to end with their macumbas is by praying.
I have been absent these days because I have no internet in my house and leaving this is a big risk that I couldn't take, I still have no internet but I could move to a place with connection to be able to post this and that all the people to whom this blog reaches can know a little of what is happening in Venezuela. Este post lo hago principalmente para las personas que no son Venezolanas y no saben muy bien que está sucediendo en el país actualmente, trataré de explicar de la forma más concisa que pueda los acontecimientos actuales.
Para poner un poco en contexto, Venezuela está sometida bajo la dictadura de Nicolás Maduro, sucesor de Hugo Chavéz; hemos estado 25 años sometidos bajo el régimen de estas personas, soportando escasez, inflación, inseguridad, pobreza, muerte, enfermedades y el exilio de millones de venezolanos a lo largo de los años, sobre todo después de la masacre que sufrió el pueblo en 2017.
Este año, 2024, es de elecciones presidenciales y la candidata de la Oposición era María Corina Machado, nombre para nada desconocido en el país debido a que desde los años de Chávez ya se había pronunciado; debido a el apoyo que ha tenido en el país, el régimen la inhabilitó para que no pudiera inscribirse como candidato a la presidencia. Por esta razón y en el último momento se inscribió a Edmundo González como candidato de parte de el partido Unidad.
Las elecciones presidenciales generalmente eran entre los meses de Noviembre y Diciembre pero por una razón que desconozco se adelantaron al 28 de Julio de este año; ese día la nación completa salió a ejercer su derecho al voto, incluso yo que nunca había tenido fe en las elecciones porque siempre ha habido fraude pero esta vez decidí aportar mi granito de arena.
Ese domingo fue un día lleno de esperanza, motivación, la gente tuvo muchísima fe debido a la gran movilización de personas; al llegar la noche el ambiente se puso tenso debido a que empezaban las irregularidades y algunas represiones, los venezolanos se quedaron hasta el último momento en los centros de votación para evitar el fraude o la trampa pero lamentablemente se hizo igual. Los resultados se dieron pasada la medianoche, desde las 6 de la tarde los venezolanos estuvimos al borde de la silla por la incertidumbre aunque ya, muy en el fondo, sabíamos que iba a suceder debido a que ha estado pasando durante dos décadas.
Se dieron los resultados dando como ganador a Nicolás Maduro con una cifra abismal cuando se hizo público mediante X.com que en todas las mesas del país salía ganador Edmundo González; el sentimiento de derrota, tristeza y frustración invadió la nación, en lo personal rompí en llanto porque esa idea a la cuál me he negado considerar de irme del país empezó a resonar en mi cabeza de nuevo y con esa tristeza atorada en el pecho me fui a dormir. En la madrugada escuché la voz de María Corina en la calle e inmediatamente me levanté a poner la transmisión, sus palabras iluminaron un poco el panorama y me dieron un gramo de fe para seguir adelante, ella sabía que esto sucedería y se preparó para actuar.
El Lunes 29 el país alzó su voz de descontento con lo que aquí se conoce como "Cacerolazo", esto es una forma de manifestar que consiste en pegarle a una olla de metal con un objeto para hacer ruido; esta forma de protesta se ha utilizado mucho en el país para expresar la inconformidad de la población, nunca había participado en una debido a la sensibilidad que tengo a los sonidos fuertes pero necesitaba descargar y drenar la rabia como la frustración que sentía por dentro así que sin pensarlo lo hice. Muchas personas salieron a la calle a manifestar de forma pacifica pero no pasó mucho tiempo para que las fuerzas policiales salieran a reprimir a las personas usando armas de fuego contra la población venezolana sin importar fueran mujeres, niños, ancianos o así no estuviesen involucrados en la manifestación.
Desde ese día las calles habían estado en constante conflicto, llegando al nivel de una guerra civil debido a que los maleantes (o Malandros como se le dice aquí en el país) salieron a las calles con armas de fuego a contrarrestar la represión; lamentablemente han habido múltiples heridos y fallecidos por estos enfrentamientos pero eso ha demostrado que ya la población no tiene miedo, que estamos cansados de el yugo al que estamos sometidos y queremos un cambio inmediato. La situación se ha calmado un poco debido a las declaraciones que han dado tanto María Corina como nuestro nuevo presidente electo Edmundo Gonzales llamando a la paz y ha tener paciencia para enseñarle a la comunidad internacional las actas que demuestran el fraude electoral que ha hecho Maduro y su séquito.
Todavía hay una gran incertidumbre de lo que va a ocurrir, se siente el miedo entre la gente del régimen, se ve en sus caras, se siente en sus palabras y en como hablan; han permanecido la mayor parte del tiempo escondidos para solo dejarse ver mediante transmisiones en vivo resguardados quién sabe dónde. En las calles hay una tensa calma, varias personas se han visto obligada a salir a trabajar con el miedo de ser secuestrados o incluso asesinados por un golpe de mala suerte; las instituciones publicas están intentando retomar una normalidad absurda como, por ejemplo, mi universidad dando fechas de inicio de clases nuevamente.
No sé sabe qué va a pasar y cuánto tiempo más va a pasar para tener una respuesta, lo que nos queda es esperar, rezar, tener paciencia y fe; yo no soy una persona religiosa pero es sabido que este régimen ha utilizado la magia negra para reforzar su poder, por eso les ha afectado tanto la destrucción de las distintas estatuas de Chavéz que están regadas por todos los estados del país, así no crean en el esoterismo y la brujería, es algo que real y que se sabe así que la mejor forma de protegernos como de acabar con sus macumbas es rezando.
Me he mantenido ausente estos días debido a que no tengo internet en mi casa y salir de esta es un riesgo muy grande que no podía tomar, sigo sin internet pero ya pude movilizarme a un sitio con conexión para poder postear esto y que todas las personas a las que le llegue este blog puedan saber un poco de lo que está ocurriendo en Venezuela. Si llegaste hasta acá, te lo agradezco muchísimo, han sido días complicados y contar esto me ha hecho liberal un poco el estrés y la ansiedad que he acumulado esta semana, trataré de volver a mis post normales como el resumen del mes que hago siempre pero primero quería aportar mi granito de arena al país.
