The reason Vegeta is a much more complete character comes down to numerous aspects. The most important of which is his character development. Whereas with Goku, we were given a more childlike and innocent adaptation of a Saiyajin growing up on earth, with Vegeta, we saw an adult who had already become a cold and callous killer. In the beginning, we saw a brutal and incredibly powerful monster, effortlessly dispatching his own comrade without any emotion. A proud Saiyajin who believes he is superior to those around him.

La razón por la que Vegeta es un personaje mucho más completo se reduce a numerosos aspectos. El más importante de los cuales es el desarrollo de su carácter. Mientras que con Goku, nos dieron una adaptación más infantil e inocente de un Saiyajin que crece en la tierra, con Vegeta, vimos a un adulto que ya se había convertido en un asesino frío e insensible. Al principio, vimos un monstruo brutal e increíblemente poderoso, que despacha sin esfuerzo a su propio camarada sin ninguna emoción. Un saiyajin orgulloso que se cree superior a los que le rodean
However, when we learn about his backstory, you begin to understand his motivations. Then upon realizing that Goku defeats Freezer and becomes the legendary Supersaiyajin we get to see Vegeta's struggle to become stronger than Goku, After years of training, he finally becomes a Supersaiyajin and wants to fight Goku, but the androids show up and, for the first time, he actually saves the day. However, after easily defeating 19, he allows his power boost to inflate his ego before 18 quickly humiliates him.
During this, Vegeta once again steers his emotions in the wrong direction and inadvertently blames his son Trunks for his feelings, constantly berating and belittling him. All this comes to a head when Trunks dies before his eyes at the hands of Cell, for the first time in his life, Vegeta feels a true selfless care for another human being.

As he watched Goku fight a monster he couldn't even touch, instead of feeling jealousy or shame; he felt pride, he allowed himself to admire Goku; because he is always pushing himself to be stronger but as gentle and loving as ever. Just as I also like the adaptation they gave Vegeta in Dragon Ball Super, where he instead of being a mere accessory, we can see that he can also transform into Supersaiyajin Blue and is as strong or equal to Goku which I think is a great success because of how this character has been evolving as the series progresses.
