Sin duda una de los grandes dolores de cabeza antes de graduarse es la realización de la tesis o trabajo especial de grado, esa sensación de agotamiento mental que se da incluso antes de comenzar a realizarla y la cual según mi opinión está directamente relacionada con todo el estigma que gira alrededor de su estructura.
Si bien es cierto hacer una tesis no es nada sencillo, tampoco tiene porqué ser un proceso traumático ni difícil, por el contrario puede ser un camino de mucho aprendizaje, experiencia y fortalecimiento personal y colectivo. Siempre he pensado que las investigaciones son el núcleo de nuestra sociedad, porque son la base que da solución a todos los problemas planteados por el investigador, si lo pensamos bien, casi todo lo que conocemos a nuestro alrededor paso por un proceso o investigativo, desde lo científico hasta los filosófico, ayudándonos así a mejorar, evolucionar y vivir mejor.
Sabemos que hacer una tesis es básicamente investigar sobre un tema, plantearse un problema y recomendar en base a ciertos resultados, y si, hay mil formas de investigar y cientos de paradigmas que se relacionan con ello. Sin entrar en detalles metodológicos les compartiré a continuación mis 5 consejos para aprobar una tesis sin que se vuelva un sufrimiento, todos recopilados de las investigaciones que hasta ahora he realizado, entre el pregrado, la maestría y la especialización, errores que cometí y que por suerte corregí gracias a extraordinarios tutores y maestros que fueron guía en mi formación, y por los cuales pude darme cuenta de lo realmente importante antes de comenzar con nuestra tesis.
Cómo sabemos el primer paso es elegir el tema y el enfoque con el cual trabajaremos, esto es fundamental. Siempre recomiendo leer mucho y observar a nuestro alrededor posibles problemáticas, porque créanme siempre las hay, siempre hay cosas que se pueden mejorar. La mayoría de los temas surgen de nuestra realidad, en nuestro trabajo, en nuestro hogar, en nuestra comunidad y en dependencia de eso podemos elegir si queremos darle un enfoque interpretativo cualitativo o por el contrario es necesario cuantificar la situación. No te preocupes mucho por el título, siempre será objeto de cambio durante el tiempo que te lleve investigar, yo incluso cambie mi título 1 día antes de la defensa 😂, pero siempre teniendo la convicción de que estás investigando, además de lo importante de los resultados que tendrás.
En la especialización yo quise realizar un estudio sobre la pandemia de covid-19, sin embargo para lo que yo quería hacer no había instrumento existente, y validar uno era muy costoso, lo peor es que me di cuenta de eso cuando ya tenía todo el capítulo 1 y 2 casi listo así que se podrán imaginar todo lo que tuve que pasar, básicamente cambie de tema y me fui por el post positivismo ( estudio cualitativo). Algo que quiero aclarar aquí, ya que lo veo con mucha frecuencia es que no nos hablan acerca de la importancia del instrumento, pensamos que para todo hay que hacer cuestionarios o encuestas, y no es así, hay instrumentos creados y validados por autores en años pasados muchas veces creados especialmente para un área de investigación en especial, así que primero revisemos su existencia y decidamos que es más simple, si validar uno nosotros mismos o utilizar uno que es de dominio internacional y que además genere resultados ideales.
Un tema distinto siempre será un punto a favor para tu defensa, a los jurados siempre les interesara la innovación, recuerdo que en el 2022 las principales revistas de salud estaban necesitadas de investigaciones sobre covid, pasó lo mismo desde la psicología, la sociología y la educación universitaria, así que los primeros estudios sobre el tema tendrán siempre ese gran renombre por su ayuda y contribución académica. No necesariamente debe ser un tema que jamás se haya tocado, puedes utilizar nuevos enfoques, diseñas nuevos proyectos, evaluación nuevas situaciones o darle otra perspectiva a una situación, básicamente resolver problemas emergentes o reemergentes.
Una de las grandes desventajas de muchos investigadores es que dejan la tesis para última hora y por ese llamado "corre corre" se hace tan difícil y agobiante, así que lo mejor que podemos hacer es dedicarle parte de nuestro tiempo todos los días, así sea 1 hora diaria, revisar, editar, redactar mejor, plantear mejor las ideas, créanme que al final valdrá la pena y de notará mucho en la presentación. Además créeme que siempre que se revisa la redacción hay nuevas formas de escribir, nuevas formas de parafrasear, nuevas formas de redactar. Un dato supremamente importante sobre esto y que a pesar de que no lo incluyo como consejo, si es obligatorio, es seguir las indicaciones de la guía de tu institución o universidad, usualmente las universidades o institutos académicos tienen su guía o manual para la realización de trabajos especiales de grado, si nuestro trabajo no cumple con esa normativa difícilmente será aprobado.
Este creo que es el consejo más sencillo y está ligado a otro tema NUNCA hagas plagio, NUNCA pagues a tercero para que te hagan la tesis, porque así quede bien hecha al momento de la defensa no sabrás absolutamente nada sobre eso, incluso así pases mucho tiempo aprendiéndotelo, jamás tendrás la seguridad que te da hacerla tu mismo y manejar cada detalle de cómo fue todo el proceso, incluso anécdotas que solo tú sabes responder, datos que solo tú sabes de dónde surgieron y elementos de interés que solo tú puedes defender, recuerden que la tesis No es una presentación es una defensa, es decir, tu defiendes tu trabajo en base a tu investigación realizada.
Así amigos y amigas puedo decirles que se disfruten su proceso investigativo, diviértanse, elijan un tema que los apasione, generen nuevas ideas, amén su trabajo y despierten cada día con la certeza de que la contribución que harán con esos estudios será la mayor recompensar social que podrán dar tanto a sus conocidos como al mundo entero, y todos lo necesitamos sin duda.

We know that to do a thesis is basically to investigate on a topic, to pose a problem and to recommend based on certain results, and yes, there are a thousand ways to investigate and hundreds of paradigms that are related to it. But without going into methodological details I will share below my 5 tips to pass a thesis without becoming a suffering, all compiled from the research I have done so far, between undergraduate, master's and specialization, mistakes I made and that luckily I corrected thanks to extraordinary tutors and teachers who were a guide in my training, and by which I could realize what is really important before starting our thesis.
As we know the first step is to choose the topic and the approach with which we will work, this is fundamental. I always recommend reading a lot and observing around us possible problems, because believe me there are always problems, there are always things that can be improved. Most of the issues arise from our reality, in our work, in our home, in our community and depending on that we can choose if we want to give a qualitative interpretative approach or on the contrary it is necessary to quantify the situation. Do not worry too much about the title, it will always be subject to change during the time it takes you to investigate, I even changed my title 1 day before the defense 😂, but always having the conviction that you are investigating, in addition to the important of the results you will have.
In the specialization I wanted to conduct a study on the covid-19 pandemic, however for what I wanted to do there was no existing instrument, and validating one was very expensive, the worst thing is that I realized that when I had all the chapter 1 and 2 almost ready so you can imagine everything I had to go through, basically I changed the subject and went for the post positivism ( qualitative study) something I want to clarify here, because it is something that I see very often is that we are not told about the importance of the instrument, we think that for everything we have to do questionnaires or surveys, and it is not so, there are instruments created and validated by authors in past years many times created especially for a special area of research, so first let's review their existence and decide what is simpler, if we validate one ourselves or use one that is of international domain and also generates ideal results.
A different topic will always be a plus for your defense, juries will always be interested in innovation, I remember that in 2022 the main health journals were in need of research on covid, the same thing happened from psychology, sociology and university education, so the first studies on the subject will always have that great reputation for their help and academic contribution. It does not necessarily have to be a topic that has never been touched before, you can use new approaches, design new projects, evaluate new situations or give another perspective to a situation, basically solve emerging or re-emerging problems.

Also believe me that whenever you revise your writing there are always new ways of writing, new ways of paraphrasing, new ways of writing. A supremely important fact about this and that although I do not include it as advice, it is mandatory, is to follow the guidelines of the guide of your institution or university, usually universities or academic institutes have their guide or manual for the realization of special works of degree, if our work does not comply with these regulations it will hardly be approved.
This I think is the simplest advice and it is linked to another topic NEVER do plagiarism, NEVER pay a third party to do your thesis, because even if it is well done at the time of the defense you will know absolutely nothing about it, even if you spend a lot of time learning it, you will never have the security quente gives is to do it yourself and handle every detail of how the whole process was. Even anecdotes that only you know how to answer, data that only you know where they came from and elements of interest that only you can defend, remember that the thesis is not a presentation, it is a defense, that is, you defend your work based on your research.
