¡Saludos amigos, es un placer para mí estar nuevamente por esta linda comunidad! 🤗 Ya pasó un tiempo desde que compartí por aquí en que se basaban mis pasos de rutina de skincare y les conté un poco sobre los procesos que he vivido en mi piel, sobre todo de la cara y mis luchas contra el acné.
Una de mis resoluciones de año nuevo es ser más constante con mi rutina y probar uno que otro producto que he visto y había querido probar hace un tiempo, pero no se encontraban en el país, sin embargo, desde finales del año pasado he empezado a verlos en tiendas y en farmacias, así que me verán por aquí más frecuentemente tal vez enseñándoles algunos.
Debo comenzar recordándoles que en el post pasado les decía que en mi carrera de medicina realmente no vimos mucho de dermatología y eso que la carrera dura 7 años 🥲. Vimos cosas muy básicas de esa rama, sobre todo las patologías que ponen en riesgo la vida de los pacientes, como las lesiones malignas de la piel o las virales, por ejemplo.
Pero en lo que respecta al cuidado de la piel debo aceptar que tuvimos demasiadas deficiencias, es comprensible, eran demasiadas materias y muchísimas enfermedades, por eso hay que especializarse después en la carrera, la medicina es ¡demasiado! amplia amigos.
Todo eso que les acabo de decir es para que no me juzguen por mi desconocimiento en esta área 😅, yo acepto que los que saben de esto son mis colegas Especialistas en Dermatología, por eso solo les hablaré muy humildemente de cómo ha sido mi experiencia con los productos y lo poco que sé de sus componentes.
¡Greetings friends, it's a pleasure for me to be back in this nice community! 🤗 It's been a while since I shared around here what my skincare routine steps were based on and I told you a bit about the processes I've gone through on my skin, especially on my face and my struggles with acne.
One of my new year's resolutions is to be more consistent with my routine and try one or another product that I have seen and had wanted to try a while ago, but they were not available in the country, however, since the end of last year I have started to see them in stores and drugstores, so you will see me around here more frequently maybe showing you some.
I should start by reminding you that in the last post I was telling you that in my medical career we didn't really see much of dermatology and that's because the career lasts 7 years 🥲. We saw very basic things of that branch, especially life-threatening pathologies such as malignant skin lesions or viral lesions, for example.
But as far as skin care is concerned, I must accept that we had too many deficiencies, it is understandable, there were too many subjects and too many diseases, that is why you have to specialize later in your career, medicine is too much!
All that I have just told you is so that you do not judge me for my lack of knowledge in this area 😅, I accept that those who know about this are my colleagues Dermatology Specialists, so I will only talk very humbly about how has been my experience with the products and the little I know about their components.
Por ahora quiero mostrarles los productos que uso en mi día a día y por eso empezaré esta serie de post hablándoles de mi experiencia con algunas Soluciones Limpiadoras y la que uso en la actualidad. Por supuesto comenzaré diciéndoles que he recorrido un largo camino para llegar a la última, al comprobar que se adapta mejor a mi piel grasa con tendencia al acné, al clima de mi isla y a mi presupuesto mensual.
Empezaré con este Gel Limpiador Facial de la marca Nivea, no sé cuántos años de mi vida lo usé, como 10 ¿tal vez? 🤔 ¡no lo sé! Recuerdo que lo que más me gustó cuando lo adquirí la primera vez era que su presentación era en gel porque había estado buscando uno hacía un tiempo de una marca con la que ya tuviera experiencia de uso.
La marca Nivea la conozco desde que yo era niña, siempre veía a mi mamá usando sus productos, al notar que estaba creado especialmente para mi tipo de piel y que, aparte, era en gel ¡me enamoré! Y es que lo mejor de estas presentaciones es que evidentemente al tener esa formulación no te dejan una textura oleosa una vez usados y era lo que yo más buscaba.
Este gel además está formulado a partir de algas marinas, recuerdo en ese momento cuando lo vi la primera vez pensar "¿o sea, que las algas marinas son buenas para la piel? 🤔" ja, ja, yo no tenía idea de eso en ese entonces, sólo asumí que como son un tipo de plantas, tienen clorofila y viven en el agua, entonces, pues… las hacía que fueran buenos hidratantes jaja 🫠.
No se crean, no es que ha cambiado mucho mi conocimiento en algas a lo largo de los años 🫠, sin embargo, actualmente después de haber visto muchos productos en el mercado, sobre todo asiáticos basados en ellas aprendí un poco más. Ya sé que tienen minerales importantes, como todas las plantas acuáticas comestibles, son antioxidantes, tienen beneficios comprobados contra bacterias e inflamaciones y son muy muy buenas exfoliantes naturales.
Esto último en ese momento lo supe porque el producto lo decía en su descripción "Sus partículas exfoliantes limpian la piel profundamente", además promete "revitalizar la piel y reducir el exceso de grasa" (todo eso viene impreso en el producto como beneficio del uso de las algas marinas).
For now I want to show you the products I use in my day to day life and so I will start this series of posts by telling you about my experience with some Cleansers Solutions and the one I currently use. I will of course start by telling you that I have come a long way to get to the latest one, having found that it best suits my oily acne prone skin, my island climate and my monthly budget.
I'll start with this Facial Cleansing Gel from Nivea brand, I don't know how many years of my life I used it, like 10 maybe? 🤔 I don't know! I remember what I liked the most when I bought it the first time was that its presentation was in gel because I had been looking for one a while ago from a brand I already had experience using.
I have known the Nivea brand since I was a child, I always saw my mom using their products, and when I noticed that it was created especially for my skin type and that, besides, it was in gel, I fell in love! And the best thing about these presentations is that they obviously do not leave an oily texture once used, which is what I was looking for.
This gel is also formulated from seaweed, I remember at the time when I saw it the first time I thought "so, seaweed is good for the skin? 🤔" ha, ha, I had no idea about that back then, I just assumed that since they are a type of plant, they have chlorophyll and live in water, then, well... it made them good moisturizers haha 🫠.
Don't believe it, not that much has changed in my knowledge of algae over the years 🫠, however, nowadays after seeing many products on the market, especially Asian ones based on them I learned a little more. I already know that they have important minerals, like all edible aquatic plants, are antioxidants, have proven benefits against bacteria and inflammation and are very very good natural exfoliants.
The latter at the time I knew because the product said so in its description "Its exfoliating particles deeply cleanse the skin", it also promises to "revitalize the skin and reduce excess oil" (all that is printed on the product as a benefit of using seaweed).
En ese tiempo yo no sabía mucho de exfoliaciones, pero en verdad el producto me dejaba la piel ultra limpia y además me servía como desmaquillantes, yo sentía que era justamente porque en su textura vienen incluidos micro gránulos que, asumo son porciones de las algas, y al realizar la exfoliación con esos micro gránulos, los poros quedaban demasiado limpios y la piel suave.
Así que mi conclusión era excelente con el producto, mi piel estuvo relativamente bien durante el tiempo que lo usé. Tenía uno que otro brote de acné, que asumía que podía ser producto del estrés, no dormir bien, comer mal, no tomar suficiente agua, etc (la vida propia de un médico recién graduado, quien, aparte, estaba viviendo en una de las zonas más calurosas del país).
Después me mudé de ciudad a una donde la temperatura era menor y los rayos del sol no incidían tan perpendicularmente para inducir tanta sudoración, por lo que empecé a sentir mi piel muy reseca y los brotes empezaron a hacerse más frecuentes. Ya en ese tiempo, hace como unos 6 años, tuve el conocimiento de que las exfoliaciones físicas no eran lo mejor para la piel del rostro y sabía que estos micro gránulos de algas inducían una exfoliación de ese tipo, porque la textura se siente como si la tuvieran básicamente arena dispersa dentro del gel.
Por todo eso intenté probar con una solución jabonosa nueva, en ese tiempo yo ya estaba metida lo suficiente en el mundo de la cultura asiática para saber que son unos genios de la cosmetología y la dermatología, pero en el país habían muy pocas tiendas donde vendieran productos de ese continente, así que, apenas vi que abrieron una y que tenían una Leche Nutritiva Limpiadora Facial con un sello de Producto Orgánico y que prometía limpiar el rostro de polvo, grasa y desmaquillar a la vez, dije: ¡Lo necesito en mi vida ahora mismo! 😱.
Usé ese producto que les cuento arriba lo usé durante 1 mes y fue un ¡completo fiasco! Pero amigos ¡créanme! esa solución jabonosa necesita un post aparte de advertencias para que ¡jamás la adquieran! ya ustedes saben que escribo mucho y este post sería interminable 🫠.
At that time I didn't know much about exfoliations, but in truth the product left my skin ultra clean and also served as a makeup remover, I felt that it was precisely because in its texture are included micro granules that, I assume are portions of algae, and when exfoliating with these micro granules, the pores were too clean and the skin was soft.
So my conclusion was excellent with the product, my skin was relatively fine during the time I used it. I had the occasional acne breakout, which I assumed could be the result of stress, not sleeping well, eating poorly, not drinking enough water, etc. (the life of a newly graduated doctor, who, besides, was living in one of the hottest areas of the country).
Then I moved to a city where the temperature was lower and the sun's rays did not fall so perpendicularly to induce so much sweating, so I began to feel my skin very dry and the outbreaks began to become more frequent. Already at that time, about 6 years ago, I had the knowledge that physical exfoliations were not the best for facial skin and I knew that these micro algae granules induced such an exfoliation, because the texture feels like they basically have sand dispersed inside the gel.
Because of all that I tried to try a new soap solution, at that time I was already deep enough into the world of Asian culture to know that they are geniuses in cosmetology and dermatology, but in the country there were very few stores selling products from that continent, so, as soon as I saw that they opened one and that they had a Nourishing Facial Cleansing Milk with an Organic Product seal and that promised to clean the face of dust, oil and make-up removal at the same time, I said: I need it in my life right now! 😱.
I used that product I tell you about above I used it for 1 month and it was a complete fiasco! But friends, believe me! that soapy solution needs a separate post of warnings so that you never buy it! you know I write a lot and this post would be endless 😱.
El punto es que después de esa mala experiencia finalmente llegamos a la Solución Jabonosa que uso en la actualidad y alterno de vez en cuando con el Nívea. Se llama Dermalac de la marca Albephar (honestamente no sé si la venden en todo el mundo, pero sí sé que se consigue por Ebay).
Este es uno de los jabones que llegué a usar en mi adolescencia, pero no recuerdo realmente por qué lo dejé de usar 🤔, creo que porque me dejaba la piel suave y muy hidratada y en ese tiempo yo no quería saber nada de la grasa ni el sudor porque me estresaba al extremo 😓.
A partir de esa experiencia con ese producto asiáticos empecé a adentrarme más en el conocimiento de los productos de skincare, a entender que debía complementar bien los que usaba en mi rutina y que, si bien, mi piel es grasa y "pareciera" no necesitar hidratación, sí la necesitaba y ¡mucho! y ya no me hacía sentir mal la sensación.
Ya para este momento tenía suficiente conocimiento sobre lo que era el Ácido Láctico, sabía que no todos los exfoliantes eran tan fuertes como el de mi jabón Nívea que había usado constantemente durante un largo periodo de mi vida, sino que, además, existían los exfoliantes químicos suaves tipo AHA (Alfahidroxiácidos).
De estos AHA ya sabía que el Ácido Láctico era uno de los mejores para mi piel porque no era ni muy extremadamente suave como el Ácido Mandélico, ni muy fuerte como el Glicólico y podía usarse incluso a diario si el porcentaje era pequeño, se complementaba con una buena hidratación diaria y seguimiento de los pasos del skincare.
Sabía que el Ácido Láctico ayuda a la restauración del manto de protección de la piel (bacterias y hongos que conviven con nosotros), el cual definitivamente estaba roto por el uso del jabón anterior, que ayudaría a mejorar el recambio celular de los queratinocitos (células superficiales de la piel) favoreciendo la desaparición de las manchas producto del acné, disminuir las líneas de expresión (que ya debo tomar en cuenta después de los 30) limpieza de los poros (y con eso disminuir la aparición de brotes de acné) y en general el resto de los ingredientes de la fórmula brindarían la hidratación necesaria para usarse.
The point is that after that bad experience we finally came up with the Soap Solution that I currently use and alternate from time to time with the Nívea. It's called Dermalac from the brand Albephar (I honestly don't know if they sell it worldwide, but I do know you can get it on Ebay).
This is one of the soaps I got to use in my teenage years, but I don't really remember why I stopped using it 🤔, I think because it left my skin soft and very moisturized and at that time I didn't want to know anything about oil or sweat because it stressed me out to the extreme 😓.
From that experience with that Asian product I started to go deeper into the knowledge of skincare products, to understand that I should complement well the ones I used in my routine and that, although my skin is oily and "seemed" not to need hydration, it did need it and a lot! and I no longer felt bad about the sensation.
By this time I had enough knowledge about what Lactic Acid was, I knew that not all exfoliants were as strong as the one in my Nívea soap that I had been using constantly for a long period of my life, but that, in addition, there were the gentle chemical exfoliants such as AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acids).
Of these AHAs I already knew that Lactic Acid was one of the best for my skin because it was neither too extremely mild like Mandelic Acid, nor too strong like Glycolic Acid and could be used even daily if the percentage was small, complemented with good daily moisturizing and following skincare steps.
I knew that Lactic Acid helps to restore the skin's protective mantle (bacteria and fungi that live with us), which was definitely broken by the use of the previous soap, and that it would help to improve the cell turnover of keratinocytes (superficial skin cells) favoring the disappearance of acne spots, The formula's other ingredients in general would provide the necessary hydration to be used, and would help reduce expression lines (which I have to take into account after 30), clean pores (and thus reduce the appearance of acne breakouts).
Lo mejor es que yo ya tenía experiencia usando el producto y sabía que eso que odiaba anteriormente ¡ahora lo necesitaba y mucho! me sentía algo confiada por todo eso y lo que ahora sí sabía, que en mi adolescencia no. Así que apenas lo vi ¡lo compré! No sé cómo explicarles el cambio que esto significó para la piel de mi cara amigos 😍, fue como si mi piel ¡por fin! pudiera descansar de tantos productos abrasivos 🥰.
Volvió mi hidratación normal, desapareció en gran medida las texturas, se redujeron significativamente los brotes de acné en casi toda la cara (excepto el mentón que acepto que es producto de un desajuste hormonal y estrés) mi piel se veía con un tono más parejo, por el aclaramiento de las manchas, más limpia, más brillante y con más vida 🤗💖.
Ha sido tantos los beneficios que me ha brindado esa solución jabonosa que se la recomiendo a casi todos mis pacientes que tienen algún problema con la pérdida de la barrera de protección de la piel, y no les miento si les digo que ¡todos! Quedan encantados con él, porque además la relación costo beneficio es maravillosa (es muy económico en Venezuela) cuesta aproximadamente menos de 6$ y rinde ¡muchísimo! Por lo que es muy útil para los casos de dermatitis extensas.
Este es un producto relativamente simple, tiene 8 ingredientes donde el principal es el agua y, muy importante, no tiene alcohol, así que de lo poco que puedo saber de estos productos el hecho de que tenga estas características ya lo hace una muy buena opción porque, incluso, se recomienda para la piel de bebés recién nacidos, que todos sabemos que es ultra sensible.
Existen muchos productos con los mismos componentes, pero mucho más costosos, yo escogí este por la situación económica que estaba pasando en ese momento, además no había mejores opciones en el mercado, pero ahora mismo sí hay opciones y me cuesta separarme de este jabón, incluso su efecto es tan maravilloso que hasta remueve el maquillaje ¡lo amo!
Sé que tal vez para ustedes leer "ácido" en un producto para la cara puede darles miedo, pero deben saber que realmente el pH de la piel es ácido y debemos mantenerlo en ese nivel de acidez. Casi todos los productos naturales en realidad tienen ácidos en su composición, solo que algunos no son descompuestos del todo y te colocan la frase: "extractos naturales", realmente esos extractos tienen ácidos, bien sea de frutas, caña de azúcar o la leche, como es el caso del "Láctico".
The best thing is that I already had experience using the product and I knew that what I hated before, now I needed it and I needed it a lot! I felt a little confident because of all that and what I knew now, that I didn't in my teenage years. So as soon as I saw it, I bought it! I don't know how to explain the change that this meant for the skin of my face 😍, it was as if my skin could finally rest from so many abrasive products 🥰.
My normal hydration returned, textures largely disappeared, acne breakouts were significantly reduced on almost all of my face (except my chin which I accept is a product of hormonal imbalance and stress) my skin looked more even-toned, because of the lightening of the spots, cleaner, brighter and with more life 🤗💖.
I have benefited so much from this soap solution that I recommend it to almost all my patients who have a problem with the loss of the skin's protective barrier, and I'm not lying if I tell you that they all do! They are delighted with it, because the cost-benefit ratio is wonderful (it is very economical in Venezuela) it costs approximately less than 6$ and it works great! So it is very useful for cases of extensive dermatitis.
This is a relatively simple product, it has 8 ingredients where the main one is water and, very important, it does not have alcohol, so from the little I can know about these products the fact that it has these characteristics already makes it a very good option because it is even recommended for the skin of newborn babies, which we all know is ultra sensitive.
There are many products with the same components, but much more expensive, I chose this one because of the economic situation I was going through at that time, besides there were no better options in the market, but right now there are options and it is hard for me to part with this soap, even its effect is so wonderful that it even removes makeup, I love it!
I know that maybe for you reading "acid" in a face product might scare you, but you should know that actually the pH of the skin is acidic and we must keep it at that level of acidity. Almost all natural products actually have acids in their composition, only that some are not completely decomposed and they put the phrase: "natural extracts", actually those extracts have acids, either from fruits, sugar cane or milk, as is the case of "Lactic".
Me da risa porque yo siempre hago bromas (en modo admiración) cuando veo a una persona mayor que luce joven y le pregunto que "si se baña con leche de cabra" 🤣, pero es que hay una creencia, (no sé si comprobada) de que Nefertiti se bañaba en esa leche y por eso lucía tan radiante, pues la razón era esta, era por el Ácido láctico, probablemente era leche fermentada.
Igual que las mascarillas de yogurt, por eso nos dejan la piel tan bonita por el mismo Ácido Láctico que tiene el yogurt. Así que no le tengan miedo, mientras sea en porcentajes muy pequeños de acidez, (preferiblemente 1,1%) y complementarlo con una buena crema hidratante y serums (estos últimos no son obligatorios) no habrá problema, porque, repito: el pH de nuestra piel es ácido y necesita de acidez para mantenerse resistente.
Como ven amigos me cuesta mucho cambiar de Soluciones Jabonosas, y es porque mi piel es tan sensible que siempre me ha dado miedo usar productos nuevos en la cara, así que siempre prefiero "malo conocido que, por conocer" y es que yo estoy clara de que lo que es bueno para una persona, no necesariamente lo es para otra y más en relación a la piel.
La piel, a diferencia del resto de los órganos, es demasiado susceptible a daños de cualquier tipo, muy visible, puede verse afectada por demasiados factores incluyendo el medio ambiente, las emociones, las hormonas, las lesiones etc, y además cuesta muchísimo recuperarla, así que por eso cuando escojo un producto y me va bien con él me cuesta separarme de él, además ahora sí llevo una vida más controlada y sé realmente qué factores pueden estar afectando mi piel en un momento dado.
Como ven realmente fue un proceso de aprendizajes, cambios en mi vida, hábitos de vida, zonas de residencia y errores cometidos, los que obtuve para llegar aquí a dar con la solución jabonosa que es mejor para mi piel. Mi única sugerencia: aprendan mucho sobre componentes, sobre lo que sus pieles necesitan y, si pueden, acudan a un dermatólogo para una recomendación especializada e individualizada ¡sus pieles se lo agradecerán!

It makes me laugh because I always make jokes (in admiration mode) when I see an older person who looks young and I ask her "if she bathes with goat milk" 🤣, but there is a belief (I do not know if it is proven) that Nefertiti bathed in that milk and that's why she looked so radiant, the reason was this, it was because of the lactic acid, it was probably fermented milk.
Just like yogurt masks, that's why they leave our skin so beautiful because of the same lactic acid that yogurt has. So do not be afraid, as long as it is in very small percentages of acidity, (preferably 1.1%) and complement it with a good moisturizer and serums (the latter are not mandatory) there will be no problem, because, I repeat: the pH of our skin is acidic and needs acidity to remain resistant.
As you can see, friends, it is very difficult for me to change Soap Solutions, and it is because my skin is so sensitive that I have always been afraid to use new products on my face, so I always prefer "the bad known is better than the unknown" and I am clear that what is good for one person, is not necessarily good for another, especially in relation to the skin.
The skin, unlike the rest of the organs, is too susceptible to damage of any kind, very visible, can be affected by too many factors including the environment, emotions, hormones, injuries etc, and also costs a lot to recover, so when I choose a product and I do well with it I find it hard to part with it, plus now I lead a more controlled life and I really know what factors may be affecting my skin at any given time.
As you can see it was really a process of learning, changes in my life, living habits, areas of residence and mistakes made, which I obtained to get here to find the soap solution that is best for my skin. My only suggestion: learn a lot about components, about what your skin needs and, if you can, go to a dermatologist for a specialized and individualized recommendation, your skin will thank you!
