Hello, #SkinAndBodycare friends. Today I want to tell you about my experience with a new hair product I've been trying for the last few weeks, it's a curl activator from the brand Cantu. This is a product I bought as a replacement for the styling cream I told you about last time, which had caused me an allergic reaction. Although as such the name of the product is curl activator, it can also be used as styling cream or leave-in, as they are also known.

This curl activator promises to smooth and define curls while moisturising them. Although my hair is not curly, but barely wavy, this product is supposed to suit my hair pattern as well. Truth be told, I was in search of another product from the Cantu brand that I would have tried previously, which is also a curl activator, however, it was apparently discontinued and I found this one instead. So after a quick check of its ingredients to check that it is suitable for the curly girl method, I added it to the cart in the hope that it would suit my hair and skin.
Having experience with the previous curl activator, before trying it I checked its consistency and realised that like the other one it has a very thick consistency, so I took a travel product container and added water to it half way and the other half I filled with the curl activator. I do this because my hair, besides being wavy, is very thin and products that are too thick usually come loaded with oils that saturate my hair and make the waves not form properly or make it look messy all the time. The first thing I noticed in that process is that it has a really nice scent for me, despite having shea butter in its ingredients, which is a smell that I dislike quite a lot, this is almost imperceptible and reigns a more very light fruity smell.
From the first use I noticed its benefits, my hair felt softer, and although I didn't notice too much definition in my waves, what did change a lot was the presence of frizz, which decreased considerably, even when I started to brush it dry on the days I didn't wash it. This is something I'm grateful for, because it gives me the possibility to wear my hair differently to my usual wavy hair, without it looking like a lion's mane. As the days have gone by, and I've been using it constantly, I've noticed a bit more definition in my waves, without much effort and without needing to use another product to maintain the definition, which is only lost when I wash or brush my hair.
However, what I'm most happy about is that it hasn't caused any allergic reactions, the skin on my face, body, and scalp are in perfect condition, no redness, pimples or dermatitis outbreaks in sight. Having been using it for a few weeks now, I can say that it's safe for me to use, which is great, as it's a product that promises to last a long time. I estimate that it will last about the same amount of time as the previous one, so I would expect it to last about a year. To tell you the truth, I'm worried I won't finish it before its expiry date (12 months after opening).
Its durability is, in fact, one of its strong points, since it has a more or less high cost compared to the styling creams I've bought lately (11 dollars on Amazon and 8 in the supermarket) and a reduced amount of product (355 ml). The fact that it lasts, at least for me, practically a year, makes it much more cost-effective in the long run than any styling cream I've tried.
So far, I haven't found any negative points, but perhaps I could mention that if it's not diluted or used sparingly, it's possible that it can saturate the hair. However, that is a situation that can be handled easily and without much hassle. So all in all it's a product that I highly recommend, I can't say if it's suitable for straight hair, because mine is wavy, but I've done very well with it, and it's definitely a product that I would buy again.
Encontré un Nuevo Amor: El Activador de Rizos Cantu

Hoy les quiero contar mi experiencia con un nuevo producto para el cabello que he estado probando durante las últimas semanas, se trata de un activador de rizos de la marca Cantu. Este es un producto que compré como reemplazo de la crema para peinar de la cual les conté la vez pasada, la cual me había causado una reacción alérgica. Si bien como tal el nombre del producto es activador de rizos, de igual manera puede ser empleado como crema para peinar o leave-in, como también se les conoce.
Este activador de rizos promete suavizar y definir los rizos, a la vez que los hidrata. Si bien mi cabello no es rizado, sino a penas ondulado, se supone que este producto también favorece a mi patrón de cabello. A decir verdad, yo estaba en búsqueda de otro producto de la marca Cantu que habría probado con anterioridad, el cual también es un activador de rizos, sin embargo, al parecer fue discontinuado y encontré este en su lugar. Así que después de un rápido chequeo de sus ingredientes para comprobar que es apto para el método curly girl, lo agregué al carrito con la esperanza de que le sentara bien a mi cabello y a mi piel.
Teniendo experiencia con el activador de rizos anterior, antes de probarlo revisé su consistencia y me di cuenta de que al igual que el otro tiene una consistencia muy espesa, por lo que tomé un recipiente de productos de viaje y le agregué agua hasta la mitad y la otra mitad la llené del activador de rizos. Esto lo hago, ya que mi cabello, además de ser ondulado, es muy delgado y los productos que son muy espesos, normalmente vienen cargados de aceites que saturan mi cabello y hacen que las ondas no se formen correctamente o se vea sucio todo el tiempo. Lo primero que noté en ese proceso es que tiene un aroma realmente agradable para mí, a pesar de tener manteca de karité dentro de sus ingredientes, el cual es un olor que me desagrada bastante, este es casi imperceptible y reina más un olor frutal muy ligero.
Desde el primer uso noté sus beneficios, mi cabello se sentía más suave y aunque no noté demasiada definición en mis ondas, lo que sí cambió bastante fue la presencia del frizz, la cual disminuyó considerablemente, aun cuando comencé a cepillarlo en seco los días que no me tocaba lavado. Esto es algo que agradezco, porque me brinda la posibilidad de usar el cabello con un estilo diferente al ondulado de siempre, sin que este parezca melena de león. Con el paso de los días y de su empleo constante, sí he notado un poco más de definición en mis ondas, sin mucho esfuerzo y sin necesidad de utilizar otro producto para mantener la definición, la cual se pierde solamente cuando lavo o cepillo el cabello.
Sin embargo, lo que me tiene más feliz es que no me ha causado ninguna reacción alérgica, tanto la piel de mi cara, cuerpo y cuero cabelludo, se encuentran en perfecto estado, no hay enrojecimientos, brotes de granos o de dermatitis a la vista. Al llevar empleándolo ya unas cuantas semanas, puedo decir que su uso es seguro para mí, lo cual es genial, ya que es un producto que promete durar muchísimo. Tomando en cuenta que me dure más o menos lo mismo que el anterior, yo le estimo una duración de un año. Con decirles que me preocupa no acabármelo antes de su fecha de expiración (12 meses después de abierto).
Su duración es, de hecho, uno de sus puntos fuertes, ya que al tener un costo más o menos elevado en comparación con las cremas para peinarque he comprado últimamente (11 dólares en Amazon y 8 en el supermercado) y una cantidad reducida de producto (355 ml). El que su duración, por lo menos para mí, sea de prácticamente un año, lo hace mucho más redituable a la larga que cualquier crema para peinar que haya probado.
Hasta ahora, no le he encontrado puntos negativos, pero quizás podría mencionar que si no se diluye o se usa en poca cantidad, es posible que llegue a saturar el cabello. Sin embargo, esa es una situación que puede manejarse de manera sencilla y sin muchas complicaciones. Así que en definitiva es un producto que recomiendo ampliamente, no puedo opinar sobre si sirve para cabello liso, porque el mío es ondulado, pero a mí me ha ido muy bien con él y en definitiva es un producto que volvería a comprar.
