Yesterday, Faiz Jillani has posted a poll on LinkedIn. The poll concerned people's preferences in terms of work arrangement and was posted in LinkedIn's Premium Career Group which is a popular one and may be fairly representative of public perception, at least in he hitech industry.
As you can see, the most popular arrangement was hybrid (some days onsite, some days remote) with 50% favoring it, the next one down is fully remote at 41% and on-site at only 9%. This is surprising, even to me, because the change is truly revolutionary. I would expect more than 9% of people to favor on-site work, for social reasons if nothing else. But this is based on over 26,000 votes cast and may well be representative. It is definitely telling though how far this new reality that practically did not even exist a mere 20 years ago has progressed.
