Good afternoon Hiveworld and I hope you are all well and that your weekend is going superbly. I've recently fired up my laptop and gone through some shots from last year and thought I'd post a selection here. Plus a few I shot on Friday night during a solo mission into my local woodland.

One from a while back when I met up with benlockett and beckyyyfoxx in a beautiful spot in the Peak District.

Here Becky stood still as stone with no shoes on in this freezing cold underground stream!! I was beezing with all my gear on. Thanks again for modelling.

Ben stood behind Becky with the BLF Q8 gelled orange and me with the @lightpaintingbrushes blue filter and hood from behind the camera illuminating the foreground rocks.

A great afternoon spent underground in this incredible spot with some lovely people. We even made friends with a toad who'd lost his way on our way out.

Happy days.

Friday night I decided it was high time I got back out into the night. This time on a solo mission with the LACE/Pala BLS to Etherow.

I have never shot the Bluebells there after dark so I packed my bags and arrived at dusk.

I took a fair few shots but this was my fave from this patch.

The beauty of the BLS is that it illuminates your path back to the camera. Especially important here so I could avoid squishing any of the flowers.

It was a magical night and fingers crossed a step in the right direction to getting out again more often.

Here is another from Friday, again shot using the @lacelight / Pala back light scanner. A majestic tool which enables you to walk from the back of the frame towards the camera, illuminating the scene as you walk without revealing the direct light from the torch to the camera.

The ring of Rhodedendron flowers on the periphery really drew me into shooting the scene. This place has an air of mystery and magic during the day but at night it definitely heightens the senses and is a little foreboding.

I hope you enjoyed following along with these three and as always if any of my work raises any questions please feel free to ask away.

I'm back out tonight with my best shooting buddy so fingers crossed we come away with some bangers whilst having a good old catch up.

Happy days.

WHAT IS LIGHTPAINTING?

Lightpainting is a photographic technique in which exposures are made by moving a hand-held light source while taking a long exposure photograph, either to illuminate a subject or to shine a point of light directly at the camera, or by moving the camera itself during exposure. Nothing is added or removed in post processing.
