Navidad... época de amor, unión familiar, de compartir con amigos y de muchas tradiciones, y una de ellas, apenas se asoma diciembre, es acondicionar la casa para su llegada.
Y más allá de hacerlo por atraer buenas vibras, creo que se debe a que el Venezolano ama las reuniones, los encuentros, y la diversión, y la navidad es una de esas épocas donde tenemos la excusa perfecta para hacer grandes reuniones entre familiares y amigos, y por supuesto nuestro hogar, debe estar preparado para recibir a estos visitantes, esperados e inesperados.
Y el día de hoy me uno a la iniciativa de esta bella comunidad, para contarles, cómo nos preparamos en casa para recibir la navidad, y aprovecho para invitar a mis amigas @valenpba @aurodivys y @alizmarpaola.
Recuerdo que cuando nos mudamos a la isla, apenas pagaban los "aguinaldos", lo primero que compraban mis padres eran cuñetes de pintura, y con eso se abría la temporada navideña, que inevitablemente estaba ligada a acondicionar la casa para los familiares que cada navidad llegaban de visita a nuestro hogar, no solo por algunas horas, sino que en muchos casos se instalaban en casa por semanas, ya que viajaban desde otros estados para compartir las fiestas.
Eran días de mucho trabajo, de limpieza profunda, pequeñas reparaciones y compras, muchas compras, pero también días de gran emoción, porque no sé si les he dicho que amo la Navidad (risas), y esos preparativos solo eran el comienzo de la época más esperada del año.
Así que sí, se trabajaba con ganas para que la casa estuviese bella para dar la bienvenida a nuestros familiares y amigos, y con el paso de los años, y a pesar de la dura situación económica del país, el venezolano, sigue manteniendo de pie esta tradición, y aunque quizá la inversión es mucho menor que en aquellos tiempos, en cada hogar se hace el esfuerzo de embellecer nuestro hogar para la llegada de la navidad.
En casa, ya no están mis hermanas, de hecho están fuera del país, al igual que el único hermano de mi esposo. Los familiares que venían de otros estados no pueden costear viajes a la isla, y los amigos que nos visitaban están regados por el mundo, pero a pesar de todo, mi amor por la navidad sigue intacto.
Y nos preparamos para recibir esta fecha tan especial, limpiando nuestro a hogar a fondo. Lavando paredes y pisos, desechando lo que no usamos, organizando la casa, haciendo decoraciones navideñas y todo lo que sea necesario para disfrutar de estas fiestas.
Este año, no se pudo comprar pintura, pero por suerte la que tienen nuestras paredes es lavable, así que pusimos manos a la obra y las dejamos impecables, al igual que el piso y las ventanas, porque aunque ya no recibimos visitas, antes de decorar me gusta que todo esté muy limpio y ordenado.
Tampoco hemos podido hacer compras navideñas para sumar decoraciones a la casa, pero eso no nos detuvo, e hicimos nuestras propias decoraciones, y resultaron absolutamente hermosas, y todo luce, tal como lo soñé.
Se respira navidad, y a donde mire hay algún detalle rojo y blanco que me hace sonreír. Y ayer, 12 de noviembre, terminamos de armar nuestro árbol de navidad, y aunque aún hay pequeños detalles decorativos por terminar, ya se siente la navidad, y una vez, que tenga todo listo, les paso a mostrar.
Christmas... a time of love, family togetherness, sharing with friends and many traditions, and one of them, as soon as December arrives, is to prepare the house for its arrival.
And beyond doing it to attract good vibes, I think it is because Venezuelans love meetings, gatherings, and fun, and Christmas is one of those times where we have the perfect excuse to make great gatherings among family and friends, and of course our home must be prepared to receive these visitors, expected and unexpected.

I remember when we moved to the island, as soon as the "aguinaldos " were paid, the first thing my parents bought were paint pots, and that was the beginning of the Christmas season, which was inevitably linked to prepare the house for the relatives that every Christmas came to visit our home, not only for a few hours, but in many cases they stayed at home for weeks, since they traveled from other states to share the holidays.
Those were days of hard work, deep cleaning, small repairs and shopping, lots of shopping, but also days of great excitement, because I don't know if I have told you that I love Christmas (laughs), and those preparations were just the beginning of the most awaited time of the year.
So yes, we worked hard to make the house beautiful to welcome our family and friends, and over the years, and despite the hard economic situation of the country, Venezuelans continue to maintain this tradition, and although perhaps the investment is much lower than in those times, in every home we make the effort to beautify our home for the arrival of Christmas.
At home, my sisters are no longer at home, in fact they are out of the country, as is my husband's only brother. The relatives who came from other states cannot afford to travel to the island, and the friends who used to visit us are scattered around the world, but in spite of everything, my love for Christmas is still intact.
And we prepared to receive this special date, cleaning our home thoroughly. Washing walls and floors, throwing away what we don't use, organizing the house, making Christmas decorations and everything that is necessary to enjoy this holiday season.
This year, we couldn't buy paint, but luckily the paint on our walls is washable, so we got to work and left them spotless, as well as the floor and windows, because although we no longer receive visitors, before decorating I like everything to be very clean and tidy.
We haven't been able to do any Christmas shopping to add decorations to the house either, but that didn't stop us, and we made our own decorations, and they turned out absolutely beautiful, and everything looks just as I dreamed it would.
Christmas is in the air, and everywhere I look there is some red and white detail that makes me smile. And yesterday, November 12, we finished putting up our Christmas tree, and although there are still small decorative details to finish, it already feels like Christmas, and once I have everything ready, I will show you.
