Hello to all my dear friends at @homesolutions. It is a pleasure and pleasure to be here again sharing my experiences in repairs, restoration and home works. There are several activities that I usually do in my flat and in my mum's house, that are worth sharing and letting you know about. On this occasion I show you a preview of the restoration work on a wooden table that I want to put to work.
I am dedicated and have put my attention to restoring, repairing and recovering my mother's house. These works include all the internal and external spaces, roof, railings, walls, green spaces and surroundings. In order to achieve this goal I started by drawing up a plan and to execute it I need estimates for materials and specialised personnel, as well as the acquisition of materials. In addition, I need to dedicate myself with patience, as it will not be an overnight task. The aspects and spaces will be taken care of step by step to the extent of my possibilities but following the plan. I am sure that sooner rather than later I will see this goal realised.
Hola a todos mis queridos amigos de @homesolutions. Es un gusto y placer estar aqui nuevamente compartiendo mis experiencias en las reparaciones, restauración y trabajos en el hogar. Son variadas las actividades que suelo realizar en mi apartamento y en casa de mamá, que valen la pena compartir y dar a conocer a ustedes. En esta ocasión les muestro un adelanto del trabajo de restauración de una mesa de madera que quiero poner en funcionamiento.
Les cuento que estoy dedicada y he puesto mi atención a restaurar, reparar y recuperar la casa de mamá. Estos trabajos incluyen todos los espacios internos, externos, techo, rejas, pared, espacios verdes y sus alrededores. Para cumplir con este objetivo comencé trazando el plan y para ejecutarlo necesito de presupuestos de materiales y personal especializado, así como la adquisición de materiales. Adicionalmente dedicarme con paciencia, ya que no serán tareas de un día para otro. Los aspectos y espacios serán atendidos paso a paso en la medida de mis posibilidades pero siguiendo el plan. Estoy segura que más temprano que tarde veré realizado esta meta.

This October I started with the kitchen, specifically repairing the cracks in the wall. This work is being carried out satisfactorily and for the time being I have hired a friend who is a neighbour of the urbanisation where I live. He will only do the cracking work in the kitchen for now, this wall can be painted when the internal and external ceiling work is done (another phase of the repair).
Although it may seem simple, it is not so simple, as there are several activities that include among the most important: pecking, cleaning and preparing filler with cement and sand. In addition to making a paste with special substances to seal completely, so that there are no signs of any visible cracks and the even surface can be seen.
Este mes de octubre comencé por la cocina, específicamente reparar las grietas en la pared. Este trabajo se está realizando satisfactoriamente y por lo pronto contraté a un amigo vecino de la urbanización a donde vivo. Sólo hará los trabajos de grietas en la cocina por ahora, esta pared podrá ser pintada cuando el trabajo del techo, interno y externo sea intervenido (es otra fase de la reparación).
Aunque parezca sencillo lo de las grietas, no lo es tanto; ya que son varias las actividades que incluyen entre las más importantes: picotear, limpiar y preparar relleno con cemento y arena. Además de hacer una pasta con sustancias especiales para sellar completamente, a fin que no queden señales de que hubo alguna grieta a la vista y que pueda verse la superficie uniforme.
For my part, I have dedicated myself to working with my own hands on some of the furniture and objects that are there and that have an important value for me. Additionally, these objects are salvageable, they require resources, effort and some time. As there are several of them, I wanted to select something small and easy to work with.
I chose a glass table with a wooden base. The glass of this table was broken and only the base remains. As a final step I hope to adapt it to a surface of a different material. In my opinion, I consider glass to be dangerous, when there are children we should avoid an unsafe environment and unsafe objects. This is a criterion I applied with my young children and now with my grandson.
Por mi parte me he dedicado a trabajar con mis propias manos algunos de los muebles y objetos que están allí y que tienen un valor importante para mi. Adicionalmente, estos objetos son recuperables, requieren de recursos, esfuerzos y algo de tiempo. Como son varios, quise seleccionar algo pequeño y fácil de trabajar.
Escogí una mesa de vidrio y base de madera. El vidrio de ésta mesa se rompió y sólo queda la base. Espero como fase final adaptarle una superficie de otro material. Considero en mi opinión, el vidrio algo peligroso, cuando hay niños debemos evitar ambiente y objetos inseguros. Es un criterio que apliqué con mis hijos pequeños y ahora con mi nieto.

The reason for starting to work with the table is because it requires few materials, the work is simple and on the other hand I want to see the work completed in the short term and thus serve as a stimulus to continue in these tasks and the proposed mission. I feel really excited and happy to be doing this restoration that I hope to show you soon in the next phase, and if it is the case, the finished table.
I started by cleaning this wooden base with a cloth to remove the dust. Then I started sanding the surfaces with a 3M 180 sandpaper that I bought previously at the hardware store and this was the suggested one. The base is all wood and had dirty spots on it. I spent a day sanding all areas of it. I proceeded to wash it a bit with water, soap and a sponge. I left it in the sun for 20 minutes and then put it away.
La razón de comenzar a trabajar con la mesa es porque requiere de pocos materiales, el trabajo sencillo y por otra parte deseo ver a corto plazo el trabajo culminado y así servir de estímulo para continuar en estas tareas y misión propuesta. Me siento realmente ilusionada y felíz de estar haciendo esta restauración que espero pronto mostrarles en la siguiente fase, y si es el caso la mesa ya terminada.
Inicié limpiando esta base de madera con un trapo para quitar el polvo. Posteriormente comencé a lijar las superficies con una lija 180 3M que compré previamente en la ferretería y ésta fué la sugerida. La base es toda de madera y presentaba manchas de sucio. Me dediqué un día a lijarla por toda sus áreas. Procedí a lavarla un poco con agua, jabón y una esponja. Esta la dejé 20 min al sol y después la guardé.

The next day I continued sanding all over, especially working on those areas, in order to remove the details that I had not noticed the first time. Afterwards, with a clean damp cloth I removed the dust and put it away to continue the restoration phase. For this, I will consult the different alternatives that I can apply such as: varnishing, leaving it natural with sealer combined with tiner or another alternative that I will consult with my carpenters acquaintances. What I am telling you is what I have done in the past with wooden objects.
Home work demands attention and effort and is very much like when I am going to prepare a delicious recipe in which motivation and enthusiasm must be present. In my case I get excited when I want to improve a space, recover an object or do some cleaning work. Normally when I set out and set goals; I put all of myself to carry it out. I hope soon to show and share the final stage of the total recovery of this beautiful and useful table.
Al día siguiente continué lijando por todas partes especialmente, trabajando aquellas partes, áreas a fin de eliminar los detalles que no me había dado cuenta la primera vez. Posteriormente, con un trapo húmedo limpio retiré el polvo y guardé para continuar la fase la restauración. Para ello, consultaré las diferentes alternativas que puedo aplicar como por ejemplo: el barnizado, dejarla al natural con sellador combinado con tinner u otra alternativa que consultaré con mis conocidos carpiteros. Estos tratamientos
lo he aplicado anteriormente a otros muebles de madera.
El trabajo en el hogar demanda atención y esfuerzo, se parece mucho a cuando preparo una deliciosa receta, en la que la motivación y entusiasmo deben estar presentes. Me hace ilusión cuando quiero mejorar un espacio, recuperar un objeto o hacer trabajos de limpieza. Normalmente cuando me dispongo y trazo metas; pongo todo de mí para llevarla a cabo. Espero pronto mostrar y compartir la etapa final de la recuperación total de esta bella y útil mesa.
