Tonight we celebrate another year of life of our "Matiya". We call her Matiya as shortcut for Mama and Tiya. Mama is the term for mother and tiya is the term we call for our aunt. So as we combine it, we call her "Matiya".
She is the sister of my grandfather and we love her so dearly. Tonight, we are reunited with family and friends as we celebrate her birthday.
One of the best moments as a family is to gather on birthday celebrations. Nothing compares to the joy of being able to share good food and good stories with the people closest to your heart.
This is our Matiya and she is the birthday girl.
Sweet and Sour Fish
The sweet and sour fish is the highlight for our oldies who does not eat pork anymore. Who else loves sweet and sour fish?
There are a lot of good foods we shared tonight such as lechon belly,
lumpia, pancit, tender pork, and sweet and sour fish. These are all Filipino favorites that will always be present during birthday celebrations.
Most especially the pancit - a traditional Filipino noodles dish. During birthdays or any occasion, pancit is always present because there is a tradition we believe that pancit can bring long life. It may or may not be true but regardless, pancit will always bring joy to every Filipino table.
But the best part shared is the good stories with good company. Getting together with family, asking how each of our days went, changes in our lives, news both good and bad. Everything shared with family is always the best.
The children are reunited with their cousins, it is indeed a day filled with so much happiness. It makes me so happy as well to see the children playing around.
In these present-day children are so much involved in using gadgets, that it is important that children spend time playing around and being physically involved. It is also important to get together with cousins and family.
My uncles are also reunited over good liquor and good stories. The boys have their separate tables where they drink after they have dinner. The girls also had their own separate table and drank their favorite gin. Everyone is kinda tipsy already.
During these days, when we all get busy with our hectic schedules, we must always make sure to spend time with family.
This night was filled with so much happiness and we all enjoyed each other’s company. Thank you to our dearest Matiya for the dinner. Happy birthday!
