For those of you who know me, you know that my social life is a bit reduced, not like my friend @sidalim88 (who one of these days I hope she will invite me 🤣) but yes: every time I am invited to a place, I try to enjoy it because they are moments to share and generate in my body the hormones of happiness to get away from the routine a little bit.
Para los que me conocen, saben que llevo una vida social un poco disminuida, más no como la amiga @sidalim88 (que un día de estos espero que me invite 🤣) pero eso sí: cada vez que me invitan a un sitio, intento disfrutarlo porque son momentos de compartir y generar en mi cuerpo las hormonas de felicidad para apartarme un poco de la rutina.
In recent days, apart from going to the market 😊(which is my only official outing), I was invited *to the theatre*.
En días pasados, aparte de ir al mercado 😊(que es mi única salida oficial), me invitaron *al teatro*.
My first thought was to say NO, to the theatre, and what am I going to do there? I remember in my youth, on a visit to the capital I was taken to a play; I didn't even see the title but just remembering it gives me a bitter pill to swallow because it was a "beautiful" play for others but for me it was traumatizing. It was about war and death. Nobody spoke and fear still runs through my veins.
Mi primer pensamiento fue decir NO, ¿Al teatro? ¿Y que haré allí? Recuerdo en mi juventud, en una visita a la capital me llevaron a una obra teatral; Ni siquiera vi el título pero solo recordarlo me da un trago amargo porque fue una obra "bellísima" para otros pero para mi traumatizante. Trataba de la guerra y la muerte. Nadie hablaba y el miedo aun recorre por mis venas.
But well, my friend Karla invited me and I didn't refuse because _let's give the staging a second chance_ and we headed to the event.
Pero bien, mi amiga Karla me invitó y no me negue porque _vamos a darle una segunda oportunidad a la puesta en escena_ y nos encaminamos al evento.
The theatre group is called Tabla Abierta and the venue for the play was the Palacio de los Niños cultural centre in the city of Lecheria. It is a cosy place for about 70 people, so the stage is small, very well lit, with a sound that can be heard even in the back seats (as I was one of the last to enter), and with an air conditioning that allows us to enjoy the play. For me it is: too much cold loses my attention, too much heat too.
El gupo teatral se llama Tabla Abierta y el sitio designado para la obra fueron los espacios del centro cultural Palacio de los Niños, en la ciudad de Lecheria. Es un sitio acogedor para unas 70 personas así que el escenario es pequeño, muy bien iluminado, con un sonido que puede escucharse hasta los asientos de atrás (ya que fui una de las últimas en entrar), y con un aire acondicionado que nos permite disfrutar de la obra ¿Es importante ese detalle? Para mi sí: mucho frio me pierde en la atención, mucho calor también.
What was the play about?// ¿De qué trató la obra?
It is called _el remedio_. The play characterises characters from an eastern region of our country. This for me is the central theme because the staging and imitation of the gentilico of that area was masterful.
Se llama _el remedio_. La obra se desarrolla caracterizando a unos personajes oriundos de una región oriental de nuestro país. Este para mí es el tema central porque la escenificación e imitación del gentilico de esa zona, fue magistral.
When you are born in an area, you speak the way they speak in that area, so acquiring their accent, intonation, words or phrases is a challenge that they took on efficiently. I felt like I was there because it is a fishing area and you can imagine that it was shouting, incomplete words, phrases like "MI ALMA! Or calling a person by their full name and the most emblematic _commending themselves to the Virgin of the Valley_, patron saint of Margarita Island, every four minutes 🤣😅.
Cuando uno nace en una zona, hablamos como se habla en esa zona, por ende, adquirir su acento entoncación, palabras o frases, es todo un reto que asumieron de manera eficiente. Me sentí como su estuviese allí porque es una zona pesquera y se pueden imaginar que eran gritos, palabras incompletas, frases como ¡MI ALMA! O llamar a una persona por su nombre completo y lo más emblemático _encomendarse a la virgen del Valle_ patrona de la isla de Margarita, cada cuatro minutos 🤣😅.
Three siblings (two females and one male) live on the island and the eldest, Florencia Del Valle, being the eldest, has a knee pain that despite her siblings' demand that she visit a doctor, she is hopeful that a remedy sent to her by a curandera (a person who works and heals by means of home remedies) will relieve her pain immediately and permanently.
Tres hermanos (dos hembras y un varón), viven en la isla y la mayor, Florencia Del Valle, siendo la mayor, tiene un dolor de rodilla que a pesar de la demanda de sus hermanos de que visite a un médico, ella esta esperanzada que un remedio que le mando una curandera (persona que trabaja y cura por medio de los remedios caseros) y en el cual tiene esperanza de que le alivie su dolor de manera inmediata y permanente.
So imagine that scene, the woman making the remedy, the brothers fighting, the people who come to visit the house and give their opinions, the shouting, the noise, the complaints, the arguments for her to go to the doctor, the running, the confrontations in their "language", "Hija er diablo", "Virgen del Valle", you can hear them coming and going all over the stage during the play.
Entonces imaginen esa escena, la mujer haciendo el remedio, los hermanos peleando, las personas que vienen a visitar a la casa y opinan, los gritos, la algarabia, los reclamos, los argumentos para que vaya al médico,las correderas, los enfrentamientos en su "idioma", ¡Hija er diablo!, ¡Virgen del Valle!, Se escuchan que van y vienen por todo el escenario durante la obra.
In the course of this, her brother plays a joke on her by changing the remedy that Florencia had made, and then he gives her another drink that lowers her blood pressure and sends her straight to the hospital. When she finds out that it was her brother who did this to her, together with her other sister and the comadre, they play a similar joke on Jesús (the brother), and they both end up apologising for what happened and forgiving each other in order to continue being the same loving siblings as always.
En el transcurso, su hermano le juega una broma cambiando el remedio que hizo Florencia y le coloca otra bebida que hace que se le baje la presión y la manda directo al hospital. Cuando se entera que fue su hermano que le hizo eso, en conjunto con su otra hermana y la comadre, le juegan una broma igual a Jesús (el hermano), que terminan los dos pidiendo disculpas por los ocurrido y perdonándose para seguir siendo los mismos hermanos amorosos de siempre.

It's been a long time since I've laughed at a movie like that, as it was live and direct; I enjoyed every scene, every dialogue, they made me say "Hey, they really talk just like those people! What a perfect way to imitate them.
Tenía muchisimo tiempo que ni una película de risa me hubiese causado eso, como fue en vivo y directo; disfrute cada escena, cada diálogo me hicieron decir ¡Oye de verdad es que hablan igualito a esa gente! Que forma de imitarlos tan perfecta.

The theatre was full, all the tickets were sold and the reception was positive as the room burst into laughter whenever the opportunity arose. The final scene was the highlight because the lighting effects and music helped to give the scene the desired look and feel and got the audience's reaction by including them in the play.
La sala estuvo llena, todas las entradas fueron vendidas y la recepción fue positiva porque la sala ESTALLABA en risas cada vez que se presentaba la oportunidad. La escena final, fue el momento mas cumbre porque los efectos de luces y música ayudaron a dar a la escena el aspecto deseado y logro la reacción del público incluyendose en la obra.
I thanked my friends for the invitation because it was a different Sunday, of sharing, laughter and comments about the staging in the theatre and that some of the actors and production staff knew them so it was an extended congratulations.
Yo agradecí a mis amigos la invitación porque fue un domingo diferente, de compartir, risas y comentarios sobre la puesta en escena en el teatro y que algunos de los actores y cuerpo de producción los conocían así que fue una felicitación extensa.
The audience applauded for a long time and the artists thanked the support of many people who collaborated behind the scenes and closed by inviting the theatre again to enjoy another cycle of plays they are offering. I hope my friends invite me again and now I will say YES! Without hesitation 😎🤣😅😂.
El público aplaudió por un buen rato y los artistas agradecieron el apoyo de muchas personas que colaboraron detrás de escena y cerraron invitando nuevamente al teatro a disfrutar de otro ciclo de obras que estan ofreciendo. Ojalá mis amigos me vuelvan a invitar y ahora diré ¡SÍ! Sin dudarlo 😎🤣😅😂.
