Les cuento que todo comenzó hace unas semanas que me asocié con mi amigo @ismaelgranados para iniciar nuestro emprendimiento de venta de cupcakes y gelatinas, en nuestro primer intento de venta nos fue muy mal ya que no vendimos nada. Entonces tomamos la decisión de hacer un donativo de nuestros productos a alguna institución para evitar que se perdiera la inversión y para hacer labor social.
Entre las opciones, mi amigo sugiere un geriátrico y rápidamente se me ocurrió el geriátrico que está en la localidad donde vivo y nos fuimos en la mañana a entregar lo que sería una merienda para los abuelos.
Al llegar, nos entrevistamos con la directora de la institución quien nos indicó que en el lugar sirven desayuno y almuerzo para 70 abuelos, por los momentos no tienen residencia ya que las instalaciones no tienen las condiciones pero los abuelos van a buscar su comida y realizan algunas actividades recreativas en horas de la tarde. Como el grupo de baile de la tercera edad está ensayando un baile que presentarán para finales de mes en las ferias de Táriba nos invitaron a repartir la merienda en horas de la tarde.
I tell you that it all started a few weeks ago that I partnered with my friend @ismaelgranados to start our venture selling cupcakes and jellies, in our first attempt to sell it went very badly because we did not sell anything. Then we decided to make a donation of our products to an institution to avoid losing the investment and to make social work.
Among the options, my friend suggested a nursing home and I quickly came up with the nursing home that is in the town where I live and we went in the morning to deliver what would be a snack for the grandparents.
When we arrived, we met with the director of the institution who told us that the place serves breakfast and lunch for 70 grandparents, at the moment they do not have a residence because the facilities do not have the conditions but the grandparents go to get their food and perform some recreational activities in the afternoon. As the dance group of the elderly is rehearsing a dance that they will present at the end of the month in the fairs of Táriba, they invited us to distribute the snacks in the afternoon.
Ismael y yo nunca imaginamos que de ese tropiezo que tuvimos con nuestro emprendimiento nos llevaría a tener este maravilloso encuentro con los abuelos aquella tarde. Nos recibieron con mucho cariño, les explicamos que queriamos compartir una merienda con ellos y nos dejaron quedar en el ensayo para hacer algunas fotografías y videos para nuestros blog.
Los abuelos nos dejaron impresionados, ya que era su primer ensayo y en cuestión de 40 minutos y un par de errores corregidos montaron su baile perfectamente.
Ismael and I never imagined that the stumble we had with our venture would lead us to have this wonderful meeting with the grandparents that afternoon. We were warmly welcomed, we explained that we wanted to share a snack with them and they let us stay at the rehearsal to take some pictures and videos for our blog.
The grandparents impressed us, as it was their first rehearsal and in a matter of 40 minutes and a couple of corrected mistakes they had their dance perfectly.
Invité a mi mamá y también llevé a mi hija de 2 años para compartir con los abuelos, ellas disfrutaron de la música y el bonito jardín. Durante el descanso repartimos el refrigerio y los abuelos quedaron encantados con los cupcakes, hicieron algunas bromas con ismael pidiéndole colores de gelatina que no teníamos y hasta nos recitaron algunas bellas poesías. La verdad fue que la pasamos muy bien.
I invited my mom and also took my 2 year old daughter to share with the grandparents, they enjoyed the music and the beautiful garden. During the break we shared a snack and the grandparents were delighted with the cupcakes, they made some jokes with Ismael asking for colors of gelatin that we didn't have and even recited some beautiful poems. The truth was that we had a great time.
Nos gustó mucho este compartir y nos comprometimos a regresar pronto, ya que el ensayo final de su baile será con sus trajes y maquillajes y fuimos invitados para tener la primicia antes del desfile. También estuvimos hablando con la directora del hogar para dictar algunos talleres de manualidades navideñas con materiales de reciclaje y pasar tiempo con estas maravillosas personas. El ambiente de este lugar nos lleno de energía, de mucha alegría pudimos sentirnos en familia mientras pasábamos tiempo de calidad con los abuelos.
We really enjoyed this sharing and committed to come back soon, as the final rehearsal of their dance will be with their costumes and make-up and we were invited to have the scoop before the parade. We were also talking with the director of the home to teach some Christmas craft workshops with recycled materials and spend time with these wonderful people. The atmosphere of this place filled us with energy, a lot of joy and we were able to feel like family while spending quality time with the grandparents.
Al final de la tarde nos sentimos muy orgullosos de estos abuelos que, al contrario de los estereotipos, son muy ágiles, aprenden con facilidad y contagian una gran energía. No veo la hora de regresar para compartir con los abuelos.
At the end of the afternoon we were very proud of these grandparents who, contrary to stereotypes, are very agile, learn easily and have great energy. I can't wait to go back to share with the grandparents.
Me siento muy agradecida por esa bonita tarde que disfruté entre viejos amigos, mi familia y mis nuevos amigos que son los abuelos del hogar. Agradezco la oportunidad que me dio ese tropiezo con el emprendimiento para poder conocer este lugar y poder incluso agendar actividades futuras con los abuelos, eso realmente es de un incalculable valor para mi.
Nos quedó como reflexión las palabras de la directora de la institución que nos dio las gracias por pasar la tarde con los abuelos y valorarlos de esa manera ya que a los jóvenes parece no interesarles invertir su tiempo con ellos, incluso cuando son sus propios nietos.
Esperamos cumplir las espectativas de los abuelos y poder llevarles, en ocaciones futuras, compañía y mucho cariño.
I feel very grateful for the beautiful afternoon I enjoyed among old friends, my family and my new friends who are the grandparents of the home. I am grateful for the opportunity that this venture gave me to get to know this place and to be able to schedule future activities with the grandparents, which is really invaluable to me. We were left with the words of the director of the institution who thanked us for spending the afternoon with the grandparents and valuing them in this way, since young people do not seem to be interested in investing their time with them, even when they are their own grandchildren. We hope to meet the grandparents' expectations and to be able to bring them company and much affection in future occasions.
