MULTIGENERATIONAL AFTERNOON

It was a nice, sunny afternoon. Autumn has officially started but it still felt like summer. The 15th of October 2022 was the exact date and I took plenty of group portraits with a nice variety of people from my family.

You'll see practically all those shots here. Some of them are very similar, almost identical at first sight, but there is always a detail, a pose, or an expression that makes them different.

(Enlargeable)

This is my nephew. Barbara. My brother's daughter. She's holding her son. Niko.

(Enlargeable)

Barbara lives in Costa Rica and she visits us once or twice every year.

(Enlargeable)

She organized this family reunion and "hired" the photographer.

(Enlargeable)

Time flies, kids grow and adults are getting old. As we all know, sooner or later every life must end.

(Enlargeable)

Besides being an occasion to chat and joke together for an hour or two, this was also an attempt to get the youngest and the oldest together in a series of pictures while they still share the same world, reality, astral plane, or whatever it is this thing we call ordinary life.

The man holding Niko in this photograph is Toni. The father of my brother's wife. He passed away two or three weeks later.

(Enlargeable)

Here you can see Barbara and Niko with my mother, Maria. In the following set of four photographs ...

(Enlargeable)

... they are with my father, Umberto.

(Enlargeable)

In this four-shot creation, both Maria and Umberto are present with Niko & Barbara.

(Enlargeable)

In the bottom right shot of this set, my brother's wife Sonja entered the scene. In the following photograph ...

(Enlargeable)

... you can see her sister, Alitza.

(Enlargeable)

Here you can see Toni and Nada, the father and mother of Sonja & Alitza.

(Enlargeable)

At this point, I introduced all the protagonists of today's post.

(Enlargeable)

It was an interesting afternoon.

(Enlargeable)

It definitively wasn't something ordinary.

(Enlargeable)

The people shown in these photographs meet each other fairly often in various combinations but usually in smaller groups.

(Enlargeable)

Gatherings like this are pretty rare.

(Enlargeable)

According to the metadata found in the JPEG files, this multigenerational afternoon started at 4:02 PM ...

(Enlargeable)

... and that's all I'll say in today's post. From here on, the photographs will continue the story without my written interventions. After all, a picture is worth 1000 words according to some, and I'm not in the mood to compete with that.

AND THAT'S IT. AS ALWAYS HERE ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK.
