No recuerdo exactamente cuando comencé a utilizar editores de video, pero se aproxima a los 7 años. Comencé con Wondershare Filmora, luego probe con Sony Vega y tras varios años vi el surgimiento de nuevos editores de video que prometían facilitar el trabajo, brindando una herramienta de edición mucho mas intuitiva, ahora entiendo el porque de esa promesa al comenzar a utilizar Adobe Premiere.
From Intuition to Versatility: My Transition to Adobe Premiere Pro
I can’t remember exactly when I started using video editing software, but it was around 7 years ago. I began with Wondershare Filmora, then tried Sony Vegas. After a few years, I noticed new video editors emerging, promising to simplify the workflow and provide a more intuitive editing experience. Now, as I start using Adobe Premiere, I understand why they made those promises.
Como parte del curso de edicion de video que estoy llevando, esta semana arrancamos con el modulo dedicado a este software, pausando el aprendizaje de After effects por 15 días. Se de la existencia de este programa desde hace tiempo, pero cuando intente utilizarlo por allá en el 2020 me pareció mas complejo comparado con lo que hasta ese momento utilizaba, los mismo me ocurrió con DaVinci Resolve.
As part of the video editing course I'm taking, this week we began the module dedicated to this software, pausing our study of After Effects for 15 days. I've known about After Effects for a while, but when I tried to use it around 2020, I found it much more complex compared to what I was used to. The same happened with DaVinci Resolve.
No es que me haya dado temor incursionar en estos programas, solo que para ese momento que los probe, mis necesidades de edición eran cubiertas perfectamente con lo que hasta ese momento sabía de Filmora, asi que no venia la necesidad de dedicar tiempo en capacitarme para aprender a usarlo. Luego esa necesidad se hizo mas distante al ver como los programas que ya conocía evolucionaban de tal forma que la edición se facilitaba mucho mas.
It's not that I was afraid to dive into these programs; it's just that at the time I tried them, my editing needs were perfectly met with what I already knew about Filmora. So, there was no need to invest time in learning something new. Later, that need became even less pressing as I saw how the programs I was already familiar with were evolving to make editing much easier.
Luego comprendí que esa "evolución" no necesariamente se traduce en mayor versatilidad de edición, son estrategias comerciales para hacer mas atractivo un programa, poder venderlo sin asustar a un potencial nuevo usuario con una compleja curva de aprendizaje. Por eso el boom hoy dia de las llamadas "inteligencias artificiales", la comodidad de que un software haga el trabajo por ti, se ha vuelto muy atractivo pero a la vez perjudicial.
Then, I realized that this "evolution" didn't necessarily translate into greater editing versatility. It was more about marketing strategies to make a program more appealing and sell it without scaring potential new users with a steep learning curve. That's why today's boom in so-called "artificial intelligence" is so attractive: the convenience of having software do the work for you. While it's appealing, it can also be detrimental.
Cuando comencé a utilizar Filmora, recuerdo haber visto uno que otro video de YouTube sobre cuáles eran sus herramientas y cómo comenzar a utilizarlos. Rápidamente te familiarizas con su interfaz porque las opciones que mas se utilizan estan todas al alcance en una sola pantalla: la línea de tiempo, los efectos, las transiciones y uno que otro ajuste, y con poco esfuerzo puedes obtener muy buenos video en poco tiempo.
When I first started using Filmora, I remember watching a few YouTube videos about its tools and how to get started. You quickly get familiar with its interface because the most commonly used options are all within reach on a single screen: the timeline, effects, transitions, and a few adjustments. With little effort, you can create great videos in no time.
En cambio Adobe Premiere Pro es mucho mas avanzado, es la primera impresion que obtienes al abrirlo, para empezar tienes la facilidad de adaptar tu interfaz de trabajo como te plazca, gracias a su sistema de ventanas que funcionan como paneles separados, pero no son nada intuitivos porque no muestra sus funciones hasta que no son desplegadas por el usuario, lo que resulta un problema para las personas con solo el conocimiento de programas para principiantes.
Adobe Premiere Pro, on the other hand, is much more advanced. That's the first impression you get when you open it. For starters, you can easily customize your workspace thanks to its window system, which works as separate panels. However, they're not very intuitive because their functions aren't displayed until you expand them, making it challenging for people who are only familiar with beginner-level programs.
Por este motivo decidí realizar este curso, dar el paso de principiante a alguien con mayor capacidad, no me atrevo a decir que profesional porque ese es un largo camino a transitar, pero estoy dispuesto afrontar la curva de aprendizaje de Premiere Pro. Con solo unos pocos dias utilizandolo me ha dejado una buena impresión, cada vez mas me convenzo que es una herramienta de nivel profesional, capaz de gestionar grandes proyectos, gracias a herramientas avanzadas y especializadas.
That's why I decided to take this course: to go from a beginner to someone with more advanced skills. I wouldn't dare call myself a professional because that's a long way off, but I'm ready to tackle Premiere Pro's learning curve. After just a few days of using it, I've been impressed. I'm increasingly convinced that it's a professional-grade tool capable of handling large projects thanks to its advanced and specialized features.
