Hey dear community

As you can read in my profile, my job is not only at Druckado.de but also as a specialist for space payloads at a subsidiary of the Aribus Group, in the Space and Defence Division.

I can still remember well when we had the first components for the BepiColombo space probe in my area in 2012.

And as I heard today, my Bepi has now reached its destination, Mercury (for the first time), after 3 years of travel. The probe will fly past Mercury a total of 5 more times until it finally reaches Mercury's orbit on 09.01.2025.

wie in meinem Profil zu lesen ist, bin ich beruflich nicht nur bei Druckado.de tätig sondern auch Fachidiot für Raumfahrt Nutzlast bei einem Tochterunternehmen der Aribus Group, in der Defance and Space Division.

Ich kann mich noch gut erinnern als wir 2012 in meinem Bereich die ersten Bauteile für die Raumsonde BepiColombo hatten.

Und wie ich heute mitbekommen habe, hat mein Bepi nun nach 3 Jahren Reisezeit sein Ziel, den Merkur (zum ersten Mal) erreicht, insgesamt wird die Sonde noch 5 weiter male am Merkur vorbeifliegen, bis sie letztendlich am 09.01.2025 endgültig die Merkurumlaufbahn erreicht.

Fun fackt: Originally, the probe was supposed to fly in 2013, but the launch had to be postponed several times because the development of the solar panels for the strong thermal load near the sun took much longer than planned.

So the parts that we had to build under time pressure lay around for 5 long years until the flight could finally take off in 2018.

Fun fackt: Ursprünglich sollte die Sonde schon 2013 losfliegen, aber der Start musste mehrfach verschoben werden, da die Entwicklung der Solarpaneele für die starke thermische Belastung in Sonnennähe deutlich länger dauerte als geplant.

Also lagen die Teile, die wir unter Zeitdruck aufbauen mussten, später 5 lange Jahre rum bis der Flug dann 2018 endlich starten konnte.

BepiColombo made a total of 9 fly-by manoeuvres on its journey,
most spectacularly on 10.08.2021 at 15:48 when it flew past Venus at a distance of only 550 km to gain momentum one last time and head for Mercury.

Insgesamt machte BepiColombo 9 Fly-by Manöver auf seiner Reise,
besonders spektakulär am 10.08.2021 um 15:48 als er mit nur 550 km Abstand an der Venus vorbei flog um ein letztes Mal Schwung zu holen und sich zum Merkur auf zu machen.
