🦉 The European goldfinch or simply the goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis)

📚 Carduelis carduus (Latin) thistle

With the onset of spring, when the temperature rises, the sun warms, but the snow still lies, I often hear the pleasant chirping of these birds in the forest. They still fly in small flocks and stay together, but soon the flock splits into pairs.

In the summer I meet very, very rarely, and then I only hear them when they fly by. However, when burdock and thistle begin to ripen, sometimes you can see how these colorful birds sit on these plants and feast on their seeds with great pleasure.
With the advent of autumn, they continue to eat the seeds of these plants, but the seeds are no longer fresh but dry. And sometimes these seeds are scattered by the wind, so the birds inspect the ground for their presence.
