🦉 The lesser whitethroat (Curruca curruca)

  • curruca - is an unidentified bird name mentioned in poems by the ancient Roman poet Juvenal

This bird is called something like "warbler liar / fibber!". And to be honest, I have no idea why they named it that. Externally it is very similar to the grey warbler, but there are differences. And the most noticeable is the grey color of the head is darker, and it also has dark legs.

This bird is not often encountered. It is mainly a bushy area near the river bank, but once I met it in a mixed forest, again in the bushes. Which is quite common for birds of this family.
