A molting Pied Crow.

Did you know that Pied crows change their suits every summer?

Very intelligent birds and they know that when they molt in summer they will not get cold and their new feathers will grow out the summer season to keep them warm in the following winter.
Molting simply means a change of feathers. The old is replaced with the new.

The Pied crow (Corvus albus) sat on a high street lamp.

At first I thought that he was sick, but after a bit of reading our bird book, I found that they do this every summer.

So here he prepared for take off and I was ready for him.

Bang! There he goes and I got him spot on.

In a couple of weeks he will look like this in his new suit that he ordered from the crow tailors.

The amazing ways of nature never ceases to amaze me and I learn new things every day. I knew about molting before, but I am glad that I had the chance to see the crow as a reminder.
I hope that you have also learned something new about the wonders of nature here.

And That's All Friends!
