Hello Feathered Friends Lovers,
Welcome to #SMaP Show Me A Photo Contest Round 81!
The new week will start with new theme and this time I wish to see photos you made of a bird that you have identified. Put the name of the bird and what helped to id it. Would be nice to add its scientific name as well. Was it an application or you got help of a friend? I thought to ask you to show me the first bird you encounter and id, but then it may be too difficult, so let it be any bird you photographed. It would be interesting to learn more about it and I expect to read some awesome stories.
ROUND 81
SHOW ME A PICTURE OF
BIRD YOU HAVE IDENTIFIED
The example will be my first bird, the bird that made me curious about the feathered world. And this is the woodpecker. Little did I know about the different species and suprisingly I got the pleasure to observe and photograph three different woodpeckers in our park.
Below are the pics of male and female Syrian Spotted Woodpecker - Dendrocopos syriacus.
Male bird has red on top of the head. They are very close relatives to the Great Spotted Woodpecker with whom they have many similarities. However the black line on the cheek does not go further to the back and these clearly are Syrian woodpeckers.
For me the application Google lens gives pretty accurate results for recognizing the birds. However, the pictures must be clear and to show as much details as possible.
I also asked many times more experienced birders who helped me a lot. Further investigation and reading, comparing my photos with the ones in the net. Options are endless.
Now is your turn and let me see your photos of birds, but first read carefully the rules below⬇️
Rules
Show me your photo of a bird, following these rules:
- The photo must be your own.
- Post in the community Feathered Friends
- You may add more photos, but you should state which one is your entry, otherwise the first will be taken into account.
