David and Goliath at the Bird Feeding Station

It was a bit like David and Goliath at the bird feeding station with the large wood pigeon and the little chaffinch.

Despite its small size, the chaffinch was not intimidated by the presence of the wood pigeon and held its own, getting its fair share of the bird food.

This is my entry to the #SMaP Show Me A Photo Contest Round 168 - Free theme by @nelinoeva.

The nuthatch is becoming a more frequent visitor in the area. I remember a few years ago, I very rarely saw one, but now I see them quite often.

The little coal tit made an appearance with its distinctive black and white markings. Another quite common bird around here.

Even though male blackbirds are all over black in colour with a yellow-orange beak. Females are dark brown, with lighter brown streaks on their breast.

Thank you to the #featheredfriends team for running the contest.
