When friends ask to help, I am the last one to refuse.
And that put me in the position of security this Saturday.
No not such a dangerous job but just supervising in their shop and during the event that was organised there.
Pickpockets also just work on Sundays and this event was ideal for people like that.
There I walked with a blue shirt that said ‘security’ a badge and my eyes focused on anything that might have less honourable intentions.
Fortunately, I also had time to enjoy some great performances in the concert hall by very talented drummers from all over the world.
And I was able to take a few extra steps.
Because the tour of the shop was not enough to take my numbers to great heights though I am not dissatisfied.
But let me introduce you to the amazing line-up I got to witness.
From left to right it is:
Camille Bigeault - Wiktoria Bialic - Dexter Hercules - Brittany Bowman - Nic Collins
Camille Bigeault (France) is a master of polyrhythmic.
She has taught and played at varied large events, like the Paris Bagshow, UK Drum Show, Tam Tam Festival, Drum Festival in Switzerland.
She has also hosted countless drum camps and master seminars at these drum events.
When you see her performing, her awareness of timing and rhythm and control is very remarkable.
Wiktoria Bialic (Poland) is a joy to watch.
She has more than justified her stripes.
Real ratings magnet on Instagram, Wiktoria won the Hit Like A Girl Contest in 2021.
Having lately received four Grammy nominations, she has performed several drum events in Europe.
She boasts several studio productions under her credit.
Wiktoria is a flexible drummer unconcerned with any one technique.
Dexter Hercules (UK) is one of the performances I enjoyed the most.
Dexter masters many genres including Jazz, Pop, Gospel, Fusion, Broken Beat and Funk; his playing approach is dynamic and flexible.
His adaptability makes him a much-loved drummer in the modern music industry.
Artists including Ronnie Wood, Emeli Sande, Little Mix, Lalah Hathaway, Theo Croker, Incognito, Pixie Lott, Stormzy, Olly Murs, Rita Ora, Boy George, Ashanti, Derrick Hodge and currently Ed Sheeran have worked with him.
Brittany Bowman (USA) is a bomb of energy on stage.
And with her powerful sound, this genuine punk rock drummer will surely astounds you!
Currently Demi Lovato's drummer, she has accompanied her on the most major events worldwide.
She has past worked with artists including Meg Myers, KiNG MALA, Royal and Serpent and Toni Cornell.
Nic Collins (UK)
What to say about Nic Collins. One word.... Amazing.
Nic is a true rock drummer.
Musicality came naturally to him.
He started drumming when he was 3 years old.
Musical talent is in his genes, being the son of the legendary Phil Collins.
Growing up surrounded by music, Nic picked up drumming at three years old.
He was already performing on famous venues as the Royal Albert Hall, Hyde Park, Madison Square Garden, and many other stadiums and arenas all around by the age of eighteen.
After all the performances, there was a signing session.
I was lucky enough to even be relieved of my duties to also have a chat and get my giant drumstick signed.
And the event's catering team had prepared a very tasty dinner for all the artists and staff afterwards.
