I don't remember much about my primary years in school but mom narrates that I've been a most behaved and quiet gal ever since. When I was a toddler, she would put me in one place and would come back to find me on the same spot sucking my thumb and just looking around. My sister butts in to tell me I was just too fat to move my own body, lol! That made me feel good though knowing that I never really gave my mother a hard time.
Singkham. [I've seen some framed photos of me during those years at the old house but don't know where they're now.]
But yeah, except for my reminiscence of ribbons and medals, hurting my toes and ankle for overdoing a soccer ball-kicking practice with my friend, there isn't much that came into my memory. So I'm pretty sure that I didn't bully anyone and perhaps was not a recipient to any during those years.
My parents didn't really set rules when it comes to our schooling. I think it was an unwritten law to do good and be good. However, writing this made me wish I have have done some mischief back then so there's something to laugh about on remembering. My student life may have been so boring! lol!
High school was a bit different though, still in town with about 1k student population. I was a friend to some naughty gals and we learned to sip alcohol in the last months of our senior year. One night, we had a drinking session at a friend's place where I got drunk, lost my dentures (the first time) and ironic enough, it was announced the following morning that I got the model student award for the whole senior class.
Funny yeah?
Of course my drinking mates were the only ones who knew of our little secret, lol!
A few years ago on a clan reunion, some of my cousins who studied at the same school narrated that teacher this or that often mentioned my name especially when they committed some misconduct. Those teachers must be trying to make an example of me knowing they were my cousins. How dare they? Lol! But it's quite fascinating that they still remembered me after so many years had passed. But through that, I concluded that I've not given them or the school any headache.
I became a wee bit wilder and loose when I was in the university being in the city and away from home. I did experience skipping class, dropping some subjects and what else I have done then. Sleeping in class? Oh yeah, I did that too. Although I still made it to the Dean's Lists occasionally. There I learned that one doesn't have to be all-good. A bit of fun doesn't hurt, or does it?

Outside or beyond the curriculum of books and such, many things are learned through and in between our own dealings. Thinking about it, although most people tend to remember the negative things about others, being "good" leaves some impressions too. At least that's how I came to realize based on my experiences.
As to how the current generation is doing with their schooling, I have no real idea but I'm confident that they will learn from their own experiences too.
This is my approach to the Blog of the Month pertaining to education, re: future or calling back the past.
Thank you and cheers to the new day!
