Larry Is Alive #210 December 13, 2023: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for saturday, the 13th day of December, 2023. More matches will be played today in the last round of matches in the UCL. English teams Newcastle United and Manchester City will be in action tonight. Already, Red Star Belgrade vs Manchester City is over and City won (2-3) to advance to the next stage. Winger Micah Hamilton scored on a dream Manchester City debut as he helped his side beat Red Star Belgrade and reach the Champions League last 16 with a 100% record.

In another of the matches, Newcastle United is already playing (1-1) with A.C Milan. Newcastle must win and hope PSG fail to beat Dortmund to progress to the next round. Can they do it tonight? Let's keep our fingers crossed. Larry then turns his attention to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from the New Zealand. He finds out that on this day in 1642, Dutch explorer Abel Tasman encountered South Island, New Zealand, and later thought he had discovered the west coast of a hypothetical southern continent after mistaking the strait north of the island for a harbour.

From New Zealand, Larry goes to Iraq. He finds out that on this day in 2003, Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was captured by US forces during the Iraq War; three years later, he was found guilty of crimes against humanity and executed.

From Iraq, Larry goes to the world of music and entertainment. He finds out that on this day in 1989, Taylor Swift, an American country music singer-songwriter whose pop-infused tales of adolescent heartbreak garnered broad crossover success in the early twenty-first century, was born.

Larry loves listening to Taylor Swift's songs. Here is one particular one he loves titled: "Bad Blood" featuring Kendrick Lamar.

From the world of music and entertainment, Larry goes to China . He finds out that on this day in 1937, during the Sino-Japanese War, the Japanese Imperial Army seized Nanjing, China, resulting in the Nanjing Massacre, which may have killed up to 300,000 Chinese.

From China, Larry goes to the field of astronomy. He finds out that on this day in 1934, J.P.M. Prentice, a British astronomer, found Nova Herculis, one of the brightest novas of the twentieth century.

From the field of astronomy, Larry goes to the entertainment industry. He finds out that on this day in 1967, Jamie Foxx, an American comedian, singer, and actor who rose to prominence for his impersonations on the TV sketch comedy show "In Living Colour" and later established himself as a versatile film actor, most notably for his Academy Award-winning performance as Ray Charles in "Ray" (2004) was born in Terrell, Texas, U.S.A.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today from Russia. He finds out that on this day in 1944, Wassily Kandinsky, a Russian-born artist who pioneered pure abstraction in modern painting died in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
