Larry Is Alive #192 November 24, 2023: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for Thursday, the 24th day of November, 2023. We have started seeing a good amount of sunshine ater some heavy downpour for two days now. Last night was chilly as a result of the rain. Larry prepared a super hot coffee ☕ for his morning warm up. As he was sipping through the coffee ☕, Larry turns his attention to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from the world of sciences. He finds out that on this day in 1859, the book On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection by Charles Darwin was released.

From the world of sciences, Larry goes to the world of inventions and investors. He finds out that on this day in 1874, the first barbed wire to be successfully marketed was patented by American inventor Joseph Farwell Glidden.

From the world of inventions and investors, Larry goes to the USA. He finds out that on this day in 1963, the suspected assassin of US President John F. Kennedy, Lee Harvey Oswald, was shot and killed by Dallas nightclub owner Jack Ruby.

From the USA, Larry goes to the world of infamous criminality and famous outlaws. He finds out that on this day in 1971, a man later identified as D.B. Cooper hijacked a plane shortly after it took off from Portland, Oregon, and later parachuted out with the ransom money; despite an extensive manhunt, he was never recognized or apprehended.

From the world of criminality and infamous outlaws, Larry goes to Turkey. He finds out that on this day in 2001, the Grand National Assembly of Turkey adopted legislation reforms that rendered women equal to men before the law and no longer subject to their husbands.

From Turkey, Larry goes to the world of exploration and discovery. He finds out that on this day in 1642, Dutch explorer Abel Janszoon Tasman sailed from Batavia (Jakarta) to investigate the feasibility of a sea passage eastward to Chile and to explore New Guinea.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today from Japan. He finds out that on this day in 1876, Hideyo Noguchi, a Japanese bacteriologist who found Treponema pallidum, the syphilis causative agent, in the brains of people suffering from paresis, was born in Inawashiro, Japan.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
