Hello everyone. Hope our day went well? Well, I found Larry relaxing and having a look at today in #history before he went out for his usual routine of deliveries.
Larry's look at history for today took him to the world of exploration as he finds out that on this day in 1497, Vasco da Gama set sail from Lisbon with a fleet of four ships, eventually opening a maritime passage from Western Europe to Asia through the Cape of Good Hope, ushering in a new era in world history.
Still in the world of exploration, Larry finds out that on this day in 2011, The orbiter Atlantis was launched on the final space shuttle mission.
Larry moves down to the world of music and finds out that on this day in 1996, The Spice Girls, a British all girls musical group, became well-known around the world after releasing their first single, Wannabe.
Larry switches back to Asia. He finds out that Shinzo Abe, a Japanese politician, who twice was Prime Minister of Japan (2006–07 and 2012–20) died on this day in 2022.
Finally, Larry moved down to Africa and finds out that on this day in 2022, José Eduardo dos Santos, an Angolan politician who served as President of Angola (1979–2017) died in Barcelona, Spain.
Larry then had to end his look at today in history on a sober note.
