Hive Open Mic, week 31, entry be @mipiano. Gary Jules Mad World cover

"As Above So Below" is the theme for this week, number 31 of Hive Open Mic.
For me, it represents the thought that maybe there is another world, maybe better or of this one. What is better depends on our perspective, however, the truth is that we are facing some very challenging times...Some mad world... So the choice for the song was just so clear, Mad World.
This song was originally written and performed by the British band Tears for Fears in 1982. Since then, it was covered by many artist, but the most famous is the version of Gary Jules and Michael Andrews, written as a soundtrack for the movie Donnie Darko in 2001. This is a slow, ballad version. I am playing the first verse like that Gary Jules version but in the second verse I play in my way how I feel it, with broken chords in the left hand.

Lyrics of Mad World

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere

Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head, I wanna drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very mad world, mad world

Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen

Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me

And I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very mad world, mad world

Enlarging your world
Mad world
