Hola Hiveans!! _ nice to see you guys again on Hive Open Mic Week #67
After seeing this week's theme Contemplation, I decided to sing a legendary Indonesian song, by Ebit G. Ade, entitled Berita Kepada Kawan, or in English it means a News for friends.
This song invites us to think and contemplation, how greedy we are as humans who live on this earth.
In order to fulfill our desires, we also sacrifice nature. In some places, mountains have been turned into mines, forests are cut down and cause disasters such as landslides and floods that befall our innocent brothers and sisters.
The earth that was supposed to be green and cool, has turned arid and hot.
For me personally, this song has very deep critical lyrics, telling a reality that we can't ignore.
I chose this song to sing for Open Mic this week, because it represents how I feel right now.
Last week, the Kayan river in our village overflowed and flooded the village to more than one meter. about 100 houses were submerged including mine.
Everything changed instantly, panic hit, electricity went out, internet connection went out for a few days, so that's why there were no any posts from me on Hive and no Open Mic performance last week also. The situation was so messy , even we had to evacuate in the middle of the night to save ourselves.
So, I hope through this song, we can take lessons and become more concerned with our nature. let's think what will happen to this earth in the future if we don't end our greed from now on.
