Empezaré hablando de la canción y posteriormente hablaré del video musical. La canción se llama Callin y trata sobre un hombre que tiene mucho tiempo soltero y sin amar, entonces se topa sin imaginarlo, con el amor de su vida y ella hace que "su frío corazón" se derrita, es cuando toma la decisión de llamarla (de ahí el nombre de la canción) y decide confesarle sus sentimientos asegurando que nunca la dejará ir.
I'll start by talking about the song and then I'll talk about the music video. The song is called Callin, and it's about a man who has been single and unloved for a long time, then he runs into the love of his life and he makes his "cold heart" melt, that's when he decides to call her (hence the name of the song) and decides to confess his feelings to her, assuring her that he will never let her go.
La estructura de la canción es la siguiente: Loop, I estrofa, pre-coro, coro, II estrofa, pre-coro, coro, puente y finalmente, coro. La melodía de la canción es preciosa, es una balada pop suave y con una armonía perfecta de las voces de los 9 cantantes. La canción entera es hermosa pero mi parte preferida sin dudas es el puente, tiene una melodía aún más hermosa y nostálgica. Realmente la canción transmite el sentimiento que se percibe en su letra.
The structure of the song is as follows: Loop, I stanza, pre-chorus, chorus, II stanza, pre-chorus, chorus, bridge and finally, chorus. The melody of the song is beautiful, it's a soft ballad with a perfect harmony of the voices of the 9 singers. The whole song is beautiful but my favourite part without a doubt is the bridge, it has an even more beautiful and nostalgic melody. The song really conveys the feeling that is perceived in the lyrics.
Los adornos de la canción también están muy bien trabajados según las voces de los chicos, el rap entremezclado de Eunhyuk, el alto con falcete de Ryeowook... en verdad es una canción hermosa.
The song's embellishments are also very well crafted according to the boys' voices, Eunhyuk's intermingled rapping, Ryeowook's high falcete... it's really a beautiful song.
Hablando del video musical, hay bastante para decir. Está dividido en dos partes, las escenas de los miembros de la agrupación y la hermosa animación que representa la letra de la canción (la de los dos amantes). Empezaré por la animación:
Speaking of the music video, there is quite a lot to say. It is divided into two parts, the scenes of the band members and the beautiful animation depicting the lyrics of the song (the two lovers). I'll start with the animation:
La animación recuerda al arte coreano (como es lógico) sus dibujos son suaves, con trazos delicados y colores que pueden recordar a las acuarelas y a la vez al arte con papel. Las escenas de la animación representan el sentimiento de estar enamorado, la sensación de levitación o incluso volar, las mariposas reflejan las mariposas del estómago que algunos suelen decir sentir (reflejando los nervios que se sienten al ver a esa persona especial), los fuegos artificiales, también son una apreciación de la felicidad que se experimenta en ese estado y también el logro de haber conseguido a la persona con la que compartir la vida. Fue una manera bastante artística de representar la letra de la canción en forma de metáforas, o de una forma un poco subliminal.
The animation is reminiscent of Korean art (unsurprisingly) its drawings are soft, with delicate strokes and colours that can be reminiscent of watercolours as well as paper art. The scenes in the animation represent the feeling of being in love, the sensation of levitation or even flying, the butterflies reflect the butterflies in the stomach that some people say they feel (reflecting the nerves they feel when they see that special person), the fireworks are also an appreciation of the happiness experienced in that state and also the achievement of having found the person to share one's life with. It was quite an artistic way of representing the lyrics of the song in a metaphorical or somewhat subliminal way.
Las escenas de los chicos son hermosas. La primera versión del video dice "Invierno para la primavera" por lo que hay paralelismos en las escenas, una fotografía en tonos fríos y otras en tonos cálidos, reflejando la transición de una estación a la otra. La locación también es hermosa, se trata de habitaciones que se ven reconfortantes pero que sin embargo, su suelo está cubierto de arena, simulando el abandono del que están saliendo los interpretes (según la letra de la canción), también hay varias escenas donde los chicos le cierran la puerta a la nieve o se alejan de ella para reflejar la calidez en la que están entrando gracias al nuevo amor. Las escenas con fuegos artificiales simulan exactamente lo mismo que la animación, al igual que las bengalas que sostiene Eunhyuk.
The scenes of the boys are beautiful. The first version of the video says "Winter for spring" so there are parallels in the scenes, one photographed in cold tones and the other in warm tones, reflecting the transition from one season to the other. The location is also beautiful, these are rooms that look comforting but nevertheless their floors are covered in sand, simulating the abandonment from which the performers are emerging (according to the lyrics of the song), there are also several scenes where the boys close the door to the snow or move away from it to reflect the warmth they are entering into thanks to new love. The fireworks scenes simulate exactly the same as the animation, as do the sparklers held by Eunhyuk.
La fotografía es hermosa, la paleta de colores, los planos de cámara y sus transiciones están muy bien cuidadas. Juegan mucho con la iluminación, sombras y desenfoques y todo de una manera excelsa. Los planos no se ven quemados ni demasiado oscuros, y el desenfoque se ve muy sutil y elegante. Amé la parte en la que la nieve que cae se transforma en lluvia de pétalos, haciendo alusión al invierno que se vuelve primavera después de dejar de estar solo.
The photography is beautiful, the colour palette, the camera shots and their transitions are very well cared for. They play a lot with lighting, shadows and blurs and all in an excellent way. The shots don't look burnt or too dark, and the blur looks very subtle and elegant. I loved the part where the falling snow turns into a shower of petals, alluding to the winter that turns into spring after it's no longer alone.
Sin lugar a dudas, Super Junior vuelve a sorprender con una canción que es arte puro de principio a fin.
