Hill View was one of those, 'STOP!!, Broken Windows' opportunities spotted by the ever eagle-eyed @dizzydiscovery.
This is to say that it was not on our schedule and was spotted driving through a very rural area of a non-disclosed location.
I don’t believe it’s ever been posted on the internet’s Urban Exploration forums far and wide, but that doesn’t make it necessarily exciting.
What’s inside is what makes it interesting... or not.
As there were a couple of large detached and occupied houses almost facing 'Hill View', we parked up around 200 yards away and walked nonchalantly up to the property, which was not boarded up or difficult to access.
First impressions were, 'what the fuck has happened here?'. Have some dickheads come along and thrown a few bricks through the front window?
The tire hanging from a nearby tree told me that kids used to live here.
Getting in was as easy as walking through the door on the side that was wide open.
What a mess inside. Is this due to it being empty for too long or have the vandals hit?
I figure they have as it wouldn’t be in this state otherwise.
This is what we called a dormer bungalow in the UK. That is a single room upstairs but most of the living quarters are based on the ground floor.
In one room I spotted a bunch of mail, but it was not stacked at the back of the door. Someone has moved it at some point in time.
I did get a name from the correspondence but other than that, it was mostly junk mail or unpaid bill demands.
The front window was missing many panes. Someone has been having a ‘smashing time’ here. Why didn’t those neighbours hear all the noise?
We made our way to the upper storey avoiding quite a large puddle of water on the way.
Is that the old handrail for the stairs?
A nice large bedroom awaited us, with little damage. Across the hall was a different story.
Was this ever used as a room or just loft space with the boiler in one corner? If this isn’t dealt with quickly the house won’t last long which is a real shame.
I guess the vandals missed this light fitting.
Not so exciting inside. I guess the house was up for sale and not sold for several years.
We exited and had a look around the exterior. No doubt now that the last residents had kids.
They had their gas supplied by a tank; that is unusual.
I took some time to look up this house and found some information. It was sold for £340,000 in 2007 and from what I can gather has been empty since 2015.
The location is so rural that it's surrounded by fields but only 15 minutes to a mid-sized city.
How much would it be valued at now,? Nothing like the selling price of 13 years ago I would bet.
