The Hive Engine token scene looks like a pale shadow of what it used to be last year, with people comparing proofofbrain to bitcoin, spliterlands related tokens being all the rage and so on. Those were the days to be sure. Now, depending on your point of view, the current prices for these sort of tokens/projects could be considered very discounted or reflecting their true value. Either way I couldn't care less because I'm a cynic old clown and for me they are all just another way to get my greasy little hands on more Hive.
Nothing in the ecosystem beats the OG coin when it comes to liquidity and ease of converting to other coins and vice versa. That's crucial in my book at least because I like to take profits in the bull market while also diversifying so I'm not keeping all my eggs in one basket.
Speaking of sort of dead projects, it would be interesting to take a look at a random example. Utopis was all the rage a good while ago with most people praising the insane returns while only a few cautioning on the perils of investing in a centralized project. Recently I've seen some complaining that it has stopped paying dividends, to be honest I only own a few tokens and the dividens are super tiny so I didn't even notice it. But looking back in the transaction history it's telling that it has stopped paying once a week and it has devolved into something a bit erratic when it comes to making the dividends payments. In my case the last one was a few days ago so you could argue Utopis is still alive and kicking, not that it makes much of difference for me. Even if it would go belly up tomorrow I would only be like 20 or 30 Hive in the hole which I can totally live with.
I'm curious if you know more details about how Utopis has gone for the talk of the town to being close to going the way of the dodo because of course I can't be arsed to do that kind of research, spending all my spare time on discord is just not how I roll :P
