Stephen, a young boy who grew up on the streets of Ikeja Lagos due to his brilliant nature, gained admission into Maryland International school , A school not meant for boys of his background . Stephen came from a poor home so coping with the students of his school was impossible he was mocked and harassed by the big boys in school because of his nature, most times the will gather and beat him to pulp, laid complaints to the principal but to no avail . One faithful day He went out for break and bought snack with the money his mother gave him but a boy named Fred who was know to be a tyrant in the school walked up to him and said hey you boy come over here don't you know that every new comer of this school must be initiated into this school with our beating rituals if not consider yourself dead corpse on finishing his speech other boys came and dragged him from behind and took him to the back of the school . Punches came raining from variously angles, followed by a powerful kick on the knee which brought him to his knees. He tried screaming out for help but was restricted by the clothe tide on his mouth he groaned and screamed in pain as he was beaten mercilessly, his skin was bruised by the brutal manhandling, he bleed throughout his nostrils as one of the punches landed on his nose, The bullying heightened as the boys brought their belt and lashed him mercilessly which left him unconscious, even at his unconscious state his school unit was ripped apart and marker used to write the word loser all over it
The boys took on the ringing of the bell for break over by the timekeeper Stephen bleed as he lay unconscious. He was found lying lifeless on the floor by his only friend in school Kenny who ran to call for help . Stephen was rushed to the hospital and was absent from school for a week. He returned to school with crouches which made him a laughing stock in the class. One of his classmates while he was out sitting put his leg on the way which made Stephen trip and fall and the whole class laughed. That fateful day he determined That he won't let himself be bullied anymore. He studied hard and became the best student in the school. He presented the school in many competitions which made it popular and loved by many even the boys who bullied came extending hand of friendship.
