Splinterlands SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge - ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ‘Š๐ŸปRADIATED BRUTE๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป "Hulk Angry! Hulk Strong! Hulk Smash!"

Hulk ANGRY! Hulk grow STRONGER! Hulk SMASH!

I'm sure you can see the similarities to the legendary Incredible Hulk. Green(ish), full of rage and muscular raw power! The theme of this week's Share Your Battle Challenge - I give you the RADIATED BRUTE!

Whatever it was, those who survived the sickness were changed. They mutated, grew stronger, and were filled with an uncontrollable rage. Some were unable to control that rage and went on murderous rampages. Others fought to maintain their sanity long enough to protect their family, friends, and neighbors from themselves. They fled into the Jade Thicket, where they became as feral as the wild animals of the continent. The people of Praetoria referred to them as Radiated Brutes.

The Radiated Brute is a Common card released during the Chaos Legion expansion. It has definitely found it's place in many Fire decks given its availability and usefulness. At LEVEL 1, it has 2 โš”๏ธMELEE ATTACKโš”๏ธ and 1 ๐Ÿƒ๐ŸปSPEED๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿป, with 0 ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธARMOR๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ and 5 โค๏ธHEALTHโค๏ธ. It has the Reach ability. It's summoning cost is also on the mid range at 5 ๐ŸงชMANA๐Ÿงช.

These stats alone make the Radiated Brute a relatively tough Off-Tank which also deals decent damage to boot. Unfortunately, it is really slow though, so misses are expected. But it's main purpose is really to get in a few hits if possible and be a backup tank.

The Radiated Brute's true strength lies in it's Reach ability, which allows it to hit from behind the 1st card position even as a melee unit. As if it's own tanking stats weren't decent enough, this card basically manages to chip in with a decent level of damage too! This could make all the difference if the battle comes down to the wire where the slightest advantage is the fine line between victory or defeat! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

The release of Chaos Legion has given the Fire splinter another card which has the Reach ability at level 1. The other cards in the Fire Splinter which have this ability at level 1 would be Fineas Rage, Magma Troll and Giant Roc. The Radiated Brute is almost definitely a direct upgrade over the Magma Troll and Giant Roc, with it's superior all round stats. Fineas Rage would be considered the superior card here, but it costs a massive 7 mana! This ensures that the Radiated Brute will definitely have it's own place here in all Fire decks. This is definitely what I'd consider game changing! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

๐Ÿ“ŠCard Stats by Level๐Ÿ“Š

stats radiated brute.png

As we can see here, the main purpose of the Radiated Brute is to be an off-tank for the team. It's primary aim is be the backup tank against the opposing team. It is also capable of going on the offensive with it's decent damage and reach ability. Stats wise, it's attack, speed and health improves across the board at higher levels. Once it reaches level 6, it also gains the ENRAGE ability thus making it a most fearsome unit with a perfect mix of offense and defense.

โš”๏ธ๐Ÿ›กMy Battle Showcase๐Ÿ›กโš”๏ธ

Let me present a battle I fought recently in which I used the Radiated Brute. My opponent used the FIRE splinter just as I did. At first glance, it would seem I was doomed. A higher level opponent with 2/3rds of this team being level 4 gold foils. Most neutral spectators definitely wouldn't have bet on me. Victory or defeat would lie in the small details.

I would say that the Radiated Brute was DEFINITELY the MVP of this match, having played it's role in turning the tide of battle. It did what it was supposed to do by chipping off at the opponent, whilst entering the fray as the backup tank when the time came, thus ensuring that the other units could eventually wear down the opponent until victory was achieved! ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ†

1st CARD SLOT

Living Lava fills this slot as the main tank. It's Shield ability combined with it's armour and health makes it the premier choice for this role.

2nd CARD SLOT

Radiated Brute fills this slot. It's Reach ability allows it to attack from the second position. It also has good damage and health. This'll allow him to be the secondary tank should the main tank fall.

3rd CARD SLOT

Furious Chicken sits in the middle, though it's job is to primarily take a hit in case Sneak attacks break through to the front.

4th CARD SLOT

Serpentine Spy occupies the 4th slot. He is protected in the middle while using his Opportunity ability to devastate the backline.

5th CARD SLOT

Lava Spider fills this position being protected of sorts behind here, yet ready to tank any possible sneak attacks. It's range attack (while minor) will also slowly chip away at the opponent's team

6th CARD SLOT

Scorch Fiend fills the last slot. It's 0 mana cost meant that I put it in to fill up the empty slots, and it'll also act as a 1 hit damage absorbing sacrificial unit.

โš”๏ธ๐Ÿ›กBattle Action Report๐Ÿ›กโš”๏ธ

SYB Radiated Brute.gif

As you can see, both of us fielded a deck from the Fire splinter. My opponent used the Peaceful Giant as his tank and Antoid Platoon as his offtank. Both of which were VERY good choices, given how suitable they are as tanks. Likewise, my choice of tanky units were the Living Lava and Radiated Brute! ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜ฑ His Elven Cutthroat and Kobold Miner were lined up in the 3rd and 4th slots. And the Halfling Alchemist and Goblin Shaman rounded off the rest of his team.

The battle started out with all our units just duking it out pound for pound. His superior levels and gold foil cards held a massive advantage over me though. And for a moment, it seemed that this battle would be lost as his sneak DPS seemed to be devastating my backline. However, my Radiated Brute supporting the Living Lava soon broke through the opponent's tanks. This allowed my team to turn the tide of battle. What started as a disadvantaged match soon swung my way.

Well as you can see here in this GIF of my battle, the results were pretty good! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

This was truly an eye opener! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ†

Slowly, but surely, the damage and Reach ability wore down the opponent's team the match came down to the final stand between the opponent's Goblin Shaman and my Radiated Brute. My team selection proved to be the edge I needed to eventually overpower my opponent. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

Would I have done anything differently? ๐Ÿค” The final 2 cards hitting each other until I won by a sliver had a glaring mistake in the form of the Furious Chicken sitting there not doing anything at all. I should probably have moved it into the 5th or 6th slot to absorb 1 more hit from the opponent's sneak DPS. This would definitely have made my win more comprehensive instead of having it go down to the wire, Of course, having won anyway, I'm still pretty satisfied with the results against a much higher level opponent. ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿฅ‡

I definitely can appreciate the Radiated Brute and it's strengths. This is one of those cards which are very strong if surrounded with the proper team. The role it brings to the battlefield will give a player the edge in squeezing out every tiny advantage to get the win. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

For any players looking to try out the Radiated Brute, I hope this article has given you some insight into its potential. ๐Ÿ˜‰
